According to multiple sources with knowledge of the situation, prominent online video personality Toby Turner has been fired from his hosting position of the popular original web series CuteWinFail by the program's producer Fishbowl Worldwide Media. Turner is currently both the 15th and 35th Most-Subscribed YouTuber of All-Time (his Tobuscus channel is at #15 with 2.58+ million subs and TobyGames is at #35 with 2.03+ million subs) and has been host of CuteWinFail since the clip show conceived from Vin Di Bona's content library aired its first installment back in October 2010. The show has done well since then, racking up over 266,000 subscribers and 50.4 million views across 100 episodes in a little over 2 years. It appears, however, those views belie the deteriorating relationship between Turner and Fishbowl

How Fishbowl Turned ‘America’s Funniest Videos’ Into a YouTube Empire

21 September 2012 10:54 AM, PDT | Tubefilter.com | See recent Tubefilter News news »

What do you do when you have a video library of a million clips, and no place to put them? This was the question that Vin Di Bona faced in 2010. Di Bona was the producer for America's Funniest Home Videos, which was entering its 20th season that year. Over the duration of the show's long run, every schnook hoping to have his 15 minutes of TV fame had sent in a homemade video to the show, creating a daunting collection over one million strong. Di Bona, along with Bruce Gersh, decided it was time to put these funnies to good use, and that year the pair formed Fishbowl Worldwide Media, a company dedicated to spreading out the breadth of Afhv's goofy library over several channels. Now, that collection of User Generated Content (or Ugc) is acting as a reminder that while original programming is an up-and-coming field in the online video, »

Spanish-Language ‘CuteWinFail’ Shows YouTube’s Global Potential

22 May 2012 3:19 PM, PDT | Tubefilter.com | See recent Tubefilter News news »

YouTube’s global reach is one of the most compelling aspects of the burgeoning entertainment platform (that’s growing at a breakneck pace). A content creator can upload a piece of entertainment to the video sharing site and that piece of entertainment is then almost instantaneously available to more than 800 million users worldwide. (Rights owners can manage in which geographic areas that piece of entertainment is allowed to be seen, but geoblocking is a setting, not the default.) Other distribution platforms simply don’t have that capability. Not television nor Netflix nor Hulu nor anyone else can beam and/or stream a show at the same time to everyone in the world with an internet connected device all at once. That global characteristic of YouTube is how Vin di Bona’s FishBowl Worldwide Media found the host of their latest original web series and also why the company believes their »
