In the episode “Dead Again,” Jonathan Silverman winningly guest-starred as a mild-mannered city safety inspector who repeatedly is declared dead… only to rejoin the living. Castle Series Finale Reveals Caskett's Fate: Did Castle and Beckett Survive?

16 May 2016 8:22 PM, PDT | E! Online | See recent E! Online news »

Well, nobody (important) died in the Castle finale! Castle (Nathan Fillion), Beckett (Stana Katic), Ryan (Seamus Dever), Esposito (Jon Huertas), Lanie (Tamala Jones), Martha (Susan Sullivan), Alexis (Molly Quinn) and Hayley (Toks Olagundoye) were all safe and sound, living happily ever after. While there was a bit of a cliffhanger in which both Castle and Beckett were shot and appeared to be dying, an epilogue found them perfectly alive, perfectly together, and the parents of multiple adorable children. So there's that! Everything is just fine. As for the LokSat business, it was all rather convoluted. During their investigation, Castle and Beckett found themselves in a trap, filled with »

The news prompted social media reactions from many of the series’ stars, who weighed in with a mixture of sadness and snark.

“Nashville,” ABC’s country music-themed drama, was cancelled after four seasons. Series star Connie Britton posted an effusive message on Instagram, writing, “To the amazing friends and family who are Nashville, to the cast and crew, and most of all to the fans…I’d just like to say it’s been my honor to be a part of this world, to live in it and breathe it in and try to replicate it. Castle: Cancelled by ABC; No Season Nine

12 May 2016 9:44 PM, PDT | TVSeriesFinale.com | See recent TVSeriesFinale news »

The Castle TV show on ABC has been canceled after eight seasons. Despite re-signing Nathan Fillion, Seamus DeverJon Huertas, and talking to Molly Quinn, Susan Sullivan, and newcomer Toks Olagundoye about returning for a ninth season, Castle's eighth season finale will now be its TV series finale.

Once the network chose not to re-sign Stana Katic and Tamala Jones, reportedly for budgetary reasons, fans were not so keen on a Castle renewal. The backlash was rather epic. Much of Castle's draw was the relationship between Katic's Kate Beckett and Fillion's Richard Castle. Castle season eight, episode 22, "Crossfire," the Castle TV series finale, airs Monday, May 16, 2016. Watch a promo, below.

So much for all those casting shake-ups.  Castle is about to close its final chapter as ABC has canceled the long-running drama after its eighth season, E! News has confirmed. For a lot of fans, this might be good news, as it was announced a few weeks ago that if the show were to return for a ninth season, Stana Katic and Tamala Jones would not be returning with it. At the time, ABC cited budgetary reasons for their exits.  Nathan Fillion, Seamus Dever, and Jon Huertas were all reportedly set to return, and Susan Sullivan and Molly Quinn were also expected to return, but fans were not thrilled about watching Castle continue on without his wife, Kate Beckett. This week's Castle is a Shakespeare-tinged affair, featuring Firefly's Jewel Staite as a special guest star...

This review contains spoilers

8.20: Much Ado About Murder

Much Ado About Murder. The title alone pulled me in simply because, well, I’m a scholar of Shakespeare and the Renaissance and I think Joss Whedon’s Much Ado About Nothing, in which Nathan Fillion played Dogberry, showed us that the man can legitimately pull off the Bard. Add to that the allure of former Firefly shipmate Jewel Staite showing up, and, boy-howdy, I’m in.

Did the episode actually live up to my hopes? Sorta. But certainly not the way I expected it to.

For starters, it was actually pretty light on the Shakespeare, all things considered. The plot revolves around the murder of an actor, who himself is potentially on the point of murdering Shakespeare. The episode opens with the performer, »
