19 January 2016 3:30 PM, PST | TVSeriesFinale.com | See recent TVSeriesFinale news »

This week Fox will talk with Bones TV series producers, to decide whether or not to renew the crime dramedy for a 12th season. During the Fox TCA party, showrunners Jonathan Collier and Michael Peterson told TVInsider, they are having a great time and want to make season 12 of Bones.

While Bones stars Emily Deschanel and David Boreanaz have filed a lawsuit over profits, which could be moved to arbitration, Collier reports they have both enjoyed this season. The Bones TV series' future is in doubt. Fox's Dana Walden said, during the TCA winter press tour, that a renewal is uncertain. If the show is to end with this current, 11th season, Fox wants it to go out strong, and satisfy the long-running show's audience.

The end is near for long-running Fox crime dramedy Bones; the question is how near — this season or next? During the network’s executive panel at TCA today, Fox chairman and CEO Dana Walden said she's "really not 100% sure" about a pickup. Stars David Boreanaz and Emily Deschanel need to re-up again, and I hear there have been some preliminary steps in that direction, a promising sign about efforts to extend the procedural. “We wouldn't do the show without David and… »

Fox Chiefs Talk ‘Bones’ Future, ‘Scream Queens’ Ratings, Post-‘Idol’ Development Push

15 January 2016 10:48 AM, PST | Variety - TV News | See recent Variety - TV News news »

Fox TV Group chiefs Gary Newman and Dana Walden used “Scream Queens” as a case study for sketching out the increasingly complex landscape of TV ratings during their presentation Friday at the Television Critics Association press tour in Pasadena, Calif.

Newman and Walden were quizzed about a host of programming questions — including the fact that the current season could be the last for “Bones” — and talked up what they said was a 30% increase in development spending this year to fill the void after “American Idol” bows out later this year.

Walden noted that the network has many more development projects in various stages of production than it would in a typical year. “We’ll need more shows than usual to fill those hours,” Walden said. Fox has been loading up on reboots: “Prison Break” is returning next season and a pilot for a new spin on “24” without Jack Bauer is in the works. »

In late November, the Bones TV series executive producer, Barry Josephson, sued the Fox network and the 20th Century Fox Television studio’s parent company, over alleged profit participation hi-jinx. Stars David Boreanaz and Emily Deschanel, and producer Kathy Reichs, followed suit, in less than a week.

Among the allegations: Fox brass threatened Bones would be cancelled, if Josephson refused a lower license fee. Now, Deadline reports Fox has filed to move the issue out of the courts and into arbitration.

Exclusive: There was no chance that Fox was going to respond with anything less than a bonecrusher to claims by Bones executive producer Barry Josephson, stars Emily Deschanel and David Boreanaz and Ep Kathleen Reichs that they had been cheated out of contractually obliged big bucks from the long-running procedural. Today, after having the names of now-Fox co-CEOs Gary Newman and Dana Walden directly dragged into the matter nearly two months ago, the broadcaster filed… »

Why does it never fail to water our eyes when Vin Diesel honors Paul Walker? He did it again last night at the People's Choice Awards, when giving a lengthy acceptance speech for "Furious 7," which won two awards. Vin name dropped the late actor, whom he has called his brother, and at the end of the speech he sang a verse from the film's end song, "See You Again."

Here's his full speech:

The PCAs are sort of the start of awards season, but things don't really kick off until this Sunday's Golden Globes. There was a stage-crasher promoting a new album (that's him below), and Dakota Johnson talked about her boobs, but otherwise the 2016 PCAs just stuck with the tradition of honoring celebs »
