Episode Review: The Mentalist - 4.24: "Crimson Hat"

18 May 2012 8:33 AM, PDT | PopStar | See recent PopStar news »

To say that things have been going down-hill for Patrick Jane (Simon Baker) is probably the understatement of the season. And while Red John saturated episode are usually the more intriguing ones of the season, this one didn’t deliver anything new. Well, Jane *does* get to finally have a sex life, so I guess that’s new. But everything else went so predictably, I’m starting to pray they wrap up the Rd John story line very soon. This show doesn’t do time jumps often, but it has apparently been 6 months since Jane got fired from the Cbi. Now he’s had 6 months to drink, con and basically go back to his Lord of Lies ways. Lisbon (Robin Tunney) and the others haven’t seen nor heard from him, but apparently they also can’t solve too many cases without him either. I was so hoping that they »

TV Review: The Mentalist 4.23, ‘Red Rover, Red Rover’

11 May 2012 11:05 AM, PDT | Obsessed with Film | See recent Obsessed with Film news »

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars

Wow. I said last week to expect little fun and a ton of intensity in these last two episodes – and I wasn’t wrong. Now I usually break down the case and then discuss the themes or ongoing plots seperately, but this weeks case was so in tune with Jane’s breakdown that I’m just going to go ahead and dive right in.

Red John leaves Patrick Jane (Simon Baker)  a note that reads ‘Happy Anniversary’ – creepy. Red John manipulates a young girl into giving Jane a message – extra creepy. “Do you give up yet?” she says, Red John smiley drawn on her hand. This being a young girl not unlike his late daughter (which I’m sure was Rj’s intention) Jane takes it upon himself to hypnotise her, making her forget about the ordeal with Red John. 'Touch' 'Noosphere Rising': Martin's sister-in-law wants full custody

26 April 2012 5:57 PM, PDT | Zap2It - From Inside the Box | See recent Zap2It - From Inside the Box news »

In "Noosphere Rising," "Touch" takes a rough turn. After the death of Teller (Danny Glover) last week, things are getting even more complicated. Jake's (David Mazouz) aunt Abagail Kelsey (Catherine Dent) has filed for full custody after hearing that Martin (Kiefer Sutherland) didn't show for the evaluation.

Jake is trying to show Martin and Clea (Gugu Mbatha-Raw) patterns through a poker hand called "Dead Man's Hand," as well as giving them Teller's key. Will they have the time to do this before Abagail gets her hands on him?

Check out the video clips below and give us your predictions for the episode. Sutherland is just knocking this show out of the park. "Touch" airs Thursday night on Fox.

‘Touch’ Stars Talk About The Deepening Mystery

25 April 2012 7:30 AM, PDT | Fox All Access | See recent Fox All Access news »

Touch” reached a turning point in its first season last Thursday night, as one character — Arthur Teller (Danny Glover) — was lost, and another — Clea Hopkins (Gugu Mbatha-Raw) — found herself more invested than ever in finding out more about the strange goings-on that now surround her.

So this coming Thursday’s episode promises to be an interesting one, as the mystery surrounding Jake Bohm’s (David Mazouz) abilities and Teller’s death deepens even further.

Compounding the drama is Jake’s aunt (Catherine Dent), who initiates a custody battle to try and pry Jake away from his father, Martin Bohm (Kiefer Sutherland).

Fox All Access caught up with Sutherland and Mbatha-Raw at a “Touch” red carpet event in Hollywood this week, and producer Jeff Axelrod spoke to the stars about the new shifts in the series’ storyline.

All-new episodes of “Touch” air Thursday nights at 9/8c on Fox.

Episode Recap: The Mentalist - 4.17: "Cheap Burgundy"

9 March 2012 2:37 PM, PST | PopStar | See recent PopStar news »

As usual, no one can solve a case without the mighty Patrick Jane (Simon Baker), and I was really kind of appalled that the Lisbon (Robin Tunney) and her team couldn't crack the measly B plot case this week. The more interesting interactions revolved around Agent Darcy (Catherine Dent) and Jane, but it's really becoming sad how Lisbon can't seem to get a win without Jane in her corner. B Plot case starts our first, with the murder of Matilda Cruise, who'd been killed after meeting with a Shakespearian chat-room buddy. Her boss, Philo (Craig Sheffer) has put up a huge reward for information about her killer, but Jane just bates Philo into punching him because he's already pegged Philo as the killer. Damn. Jane doesn't have to do anything but ask impertinent questions, get smacked and boom, he's solved a case? Philo is brought into interrogation while Lisbon and »

Episode Recap: The Mentalist - 4.13: "Red is the New Black"

3 February 2012 2:27 PM, PST | PopStar | See recent PopStar news »

Jane's little white lies are starting to come back on him. How long did he really think he could make Agent Darcy (Catherine Dent) believe that he'd really killed the Dark Lord, Red John? While Red John might be the B plot of this episode, the A plot revolves around the fashion design world, Chinese mob and some models and photographers who don't have a real good grasp on reality. Jane (Simon Baker) arrives on the scene of the murder of Wyck Theissens – who picks these names? – a local fashion guru who's been stabbed with a pair of scissors. He discovers Wyck's secret room of pretty dresses in the loft, and Lisbon (Robin Tunney) wonders why he'd hide his couture and why there was a gold feather shoved in his mouth. The owner of the warehouse where Wyck's loft is, Mr. Lu, is skittish about helping the cops, which is »

Episode Recap: The Mentalist - 4.11: "Always Bet on Red"

13 January 2012 11:11 AM, PST | PopStar | See recent PopStar news »

It's nice to see some consequences for Jane (Simon Baker) come about. He did incite a serial killer, Red John, into slicing and dicing Panzer (another serial killer). And while that might be a "public service" murder, it's still, as Lisbon says, "not good." Team Lisbon (Robin Tunney) is called out to a marina where a pushy, entitled, annoying divorce lawyer named Creek wants Cbi to protect him against death threats. And they can thank Cho's (Tim Kang) platinum blonde Ci, Summer (Samaire Armstrong) for that, since Creek was one of her clients and she recommended Cbi to him. It's all for naught though, since Creek and his snazzy speed boat blow up right in front of Lisbon, Cho and Jane. Cho and Lisbon run toward the explosion, Jane high-tails it away. What else would we expect him to do? After watching what is presumably a shark nab Creek's severed leg in the harbor – oh, »
