Lourenço Mello started his career in 1992 as an Assistant Director for NBP (production company) after three years he starts directing. In 2000 he decided to became a freelancer.
Since then he directed and produced tv movies, documentaries, corporate videos, advertising, music videos, but his great passion is fiction. His work has been recognized as groundbreaking and has been well received. Capitão Roby, SOS Crianças, Super Pai,
O Bairro, E Depois Matei-o, are between some of his most popular work.
His wife's paternal grandmother was a daughter of António Óscar Fragoso Carmona, 134th Prime-Minister and 9th President of the Republic of Portugal.
Has two daughters, D. Maria Índia Carmona José de Mello (b. 18 Sep 1997) and D. Maria do Mar Carmona José de Mello (b. 17 May 2001), named after some elements of the Portuguese Discoveries.
