Patrick Stewart’s ‘Blunt Talk’ Canceled After 2 Seasons at Starz

Patrick Stewart won’t be blunt-talking for a third season.

Starz has canceled “Blunt Talk” after two seasons, Variety has confirmed. Starring Stewart, the comedy was exec produced by Seth MacFarlane, and created by Jonathan Ames.

The half-hour scripted series follows Walter Blunt, played by Stewart, a Brit who’s intent on taking over American cable news, and the fallout from his unintentional, yet misguided decision-making both on air and off.

With the star power both on-screen and off-screen, “Blunt Talk” landed a hefty 20-episode, two-season commitment at the time it was ordered in early 2015. The first season premiered in summer 2015 and the second season just wrapped up earlier this month. Now that the initial double-season order has run its course, Starz has opted not to go forth with a third installment, likely due to the struggle to find an audience.

Blunt Talk” was averaging just 120,000 total viewers for its premiere airings in Season 2, and just around »

TBS Orders Greg Garcia Anthology and Animated Comedy to Series

31 July 2016 4:15 PM, PDT | Variety - TV News | See recent Variety - TV News news »

TBS has given series orders to two comedies set to launch in 2017, the cable network announced Sunday during Turner’s Television Critics Association summer press tour panel.

The network has ordered 10 episodes of anthology series “The Guest Book” from “My Name is Earl” creator Greg Garcia, who is penning every installment. For several years, Garcia has been writing fictitious stories in the guest books of various rental cabins in an effort to freak out the next renters. He has always dreamed of having these stories come to life on screen, and has been given the chance in TBS’ new single-camera comedy, which centers around a small town vacation home and its visitors. While the house and cast of characters living in this small mountain town remain the same, each episode will feature a different set of guests renting the house.

Patrick Stewart Dresses in Drag for ‘Blunt Talk’ Event

19 April 2016 8:14 AM, PDT | Variety - TV News | See recent Variety - TV News news »

Patrick Stewart is a chameleon onscreen so it’s only fitting that he’s just as willing to undergo transformations offscreen.

The actor dressed in drag, sporting a pink satin dress, platinum blonde wig and full makeup, Monday night during a Los Angeles screening of “Blunt Talk.” His costar Adrian Scarborough also donned drag, wearing a black velvet dress and strawberry blonde locks to the Starz “Blunt Talk” Emmy for Your Consideration event.

The pair arrived to Hollywood’s Lindwood Dunn Theater straight from the season two set of their Starz comedy.

“Something is happening in Hollywood tonight,” Stewart tweeted before the event, along with a photo of himself getting ready.
