Larry David Hasn’t Picked Up the $5,000 He Got for Calling Donald Trump a Racist, Which You’ve Been Doing for Free for Months

13 November 2015 8:27 AM, PST | Vulture | See recent Vulture news »

Last week, the advocacy group Deport Racism offered a bounty to any audience member who heckled Donald Trump during his stint on Saturday Night Live. On Saturday, Larry David took them up on it: In a scripted bit during the show's opening monologue, America's most popular Bernie Sanders imitator called Trump a racist, then explained, "I heard if I did that, they’d give me $5,000." The next day, Deport Racism held up its end of the bargain, announcing that David's outburst, which had Trump's full knowledge and cooperation, still counted: "Joke or not, it's true." But even though $5,000 is a pretty, pretty, pretty good amount of money, Deport Racism told CNN on Thursday that David has not yet responded to any of their attempts to give him the check. If he doesn't want it, the group says it is considering donating the money to Bernie Sanders, a result that »

12 November 2015 3:35 PM, PST | The Wrap | See recent The Wrap news »

Larry David has not yet collected his $5,000 reward for calling Donald Trump a racist while the Gop candidate was hosting “Saturday Night Live” last weekend. Deport Racism, the advocacy group that issued the challenge to anyone attending the taping, told CNN they have reached out to the “Curb Your Enthusiam” star’s agent by phone and email, but have yet to get a response. “I don’t know what we can do beyond that. We’re waiting to hear back. We’re kind of in stand-by mode,” Luke Montgomery, the campaign manager for the group, said. See Video: Donald Trump »

Elizabeth Banks Says ‘Hunger Games’ Would Kill Kenan Thompson ‘Immediately’ in ‘SNL’ Promos (Video)

11 November 2015 12:05 PM, PST | The Wrap | See recent The Wrap news »

Elizabeth Banks is thrilled to be a guest on Kenan Thompson‘s “Saturday Night Live,” but the actress doesn’t think he’d fare too well on her “Hunger Games” turf. In a new promo for Banks’ upcoming turn as host, Thompson asked the actress if she thinks he’d compete strongly in an actual Hunger Games-style event, to which Saturday’s host assured the actor that he “would die almost immediately.” “I’m sure of it,” she added. Thompson appreciated the candor. Also Read: Larry David to Collect $5,000 for Calling Donald Trump a 'Racist' on 'SNL' Later, she offended »

Watch Donald Trump's Hair Get Navy Seal Protection in Cut 'SNL' Sketch

11 November 2015 11:50 AM, PST | | See recent Rolling Stone news »

Donald Trump served as the host of this weekend's Saturday Night Live, and while the episode managed to squeeze in the Republican presidential candidate dancing to Drake and beefing with Larry David, not every sketch starring Trump made it to air. One skit, titled "Donald Trump's Hair," was cut for time, but SNL shared the five-minute-long clip on their official YouTube channel Wednesday.

"Donald Trump's Hair" stars SNL cast members Taran Killam, Cecily Strong, Bobby Moynihan and Jay Pharoah in the role of Scalp Team 6, a specially trained »

‘Donny!’ Review: USA Comedy Is No ‘Curb Your Enthusiasm’

10 November 2015 11:15 AM, PST | The Wrap | See recent The Wrap news »

Plenty of comedians have played heightened versions of themselves on television over the years, from Larry David to Louis C.K. to Aziz Ansari. USA’s new foray into the format, however, features not a comedian but former CNBC host and one of the last old school ad men of the Don Draper days, Donny Deutsch. The television personality, who is thought to be worth upwards of $200 million, enters the comedy world with “Donny!” a loosely scripted six-episode series revolving around his fabulously rich life, and his even more fabulously complicated problems. Wisely, this is a man who knows there are. »

If Donny Deutsch Can Get On TV, Maybe You Can, Too

10 November 2015 10:10 AM, PST | Variety - TV News | See recent Variety - TV News news »

Donny Deutsch has never taken an acting lesson in his life and never studied improv or theater. Even so, he had two other things that served him well in his quest to star in his own TV show: a dream and $175,000 to fund his own trial episode.

Tonight, at 10:30 p.m., his new comedy,”Donny,” will debut on USA. Can anyone follow in his footsteps?

Deutsch, known in New York circles for the years he spent at the helm of an ad agency that bears his surname, thinks he has trained long and hard for his new role for decades. He transformed the agency into a powerhouse by always talking up its abilities no matter what sorts of naysayers he drew. A business book he wrote is titled “Often Wrong, Never In Doubt.” And his success at positioning his ad firm has given him plenty of practice for a TV berth, »

Sia Smiles Instead of Covering Her Face While Posing With Cazzie David at SNL After-Party

9 November 2015 6:23 AM, PST | E! Online | See recent E! Online news »

Well, that's what Sia looks like! Have we just spotted a unicorn or is that really Sia's face? In a rare moment of pop culture infamy, Sia posed for a photo without her signature face-obscuring wig and we lived to share the proof.  During the live airing of SNL's highly anticipated episode Saturday night hosted by Republican presidential contender Donald Trump, the "Alive" singer cozied up to a famous daughter after the lights dimmed. While Larry David was busy transforming into Vermont senator and presidential hopeful Bernie Sanders, his daughter, Cazzie David, wasted no time after the show to snap a photo with the episode's well-known but facially »

8 November 2015 9:00 PM, PST | Vulture | See recent Vulture news »

If you slogged through last night's Donald Trump–hosted Saturday Night Live, then you might recognize the look of total exhaustion and despair that Larry David — who stopped by to heckle the presidential candidate during his monologue and play Bernie Sanders in another sketch — exuded as he gathered for final bows with Trump at the end of the episode. In fact, there's something familiar about that face, something that you might have recognized before. Wait, what's that funny little tune you hear in your head? It all seems so painfully familiar ...Social-media personality Seinfeld2000 has found the answer. 8 November 2015 11:14 AM, PST | The Wrap | See recent The Wrap news »

Larry David just hit the jackpot for calling Donald Trump “a racist” on “Saturday Night Live.” While the “Curb Your Enthusiasm” creator probably doesn’t need the cash, he’s about to collect $5,000 courtesy of an immigrant rights group for heckling Donald Trump this weekend on “SNL.” “Trump’s a racist!” David shouted at the end of the Gop presidential candidate’s monologue. When asked by Trump why he was shouting, David answered, “I heard if I did that, they’d give me $5,000.” Also Read: Donald Trump Heckled by Larry David During 'SNL' Monologue (Video) The interruption was »

Donald Trump's got some interesting moves...just like Drake! The Republican presidential candidate hosted NBC's Saturday Night Live this weekend, amid protests held outside 30 Rockefeller Center. During the show, he appeared in a parody of Drake's new music video, "Hotline Bling." The result: Spectacular, of course. He began the show with a monologue that included two Trump impersonators, yet another joke about Rosie O'Donnell and some heckling from Larry David, who has been playing Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders on SNL. The musical guest was Sia, who performed with her signature face-hiding wig and sang "Birds Set »

Watch: Larry David Plays Bernie Sanders Again on ‘SNL’

8 November 2015 9:12 AM, PST | Variety - TV News | See recent Variety - TV News news »

The “Saturday Night Live” cold open featured a faux Democratic Candidates Forum, hosted by Cecily Strong impersonating Rachel Maddow.

After dismissing Martin O’Malley (Taran Killam) quickly, Maddow moved on to Hillary Clinton (Kate McKinnon), congratulating her on her performance at the Benghazi hearings.

“Eleven hours baby,” said Clinton. “They couldn’t break me and they never will.”

Maddow put Clinton through her paces through some “MSNBC tough” questions about living in New York vs. returning to the South and being an introvert vs. an extrovert.

And then Larry David made his comeback as Bernie Sanders — to uproarious applause. “I didn’t need no fancy introduction,” he said. “I’m not Elvis Presley.”

David-as-Sanders rebuffed Maddow’s questions with his trademark humility:

On raising taxes: “We need to rebuild our nation’s infrastructure. It’s crumbling. That’s why I no longer drive on bridges or through tunnels. It’s too risky. »

Larry David Wins $5,000 for Calling Donald Trump a Racist on 'SNL'

8 November 2015 8:42 AM, PST | | See recent Rolling Stone news » — one of a broad coalition of Latino rights groups that led a boycott of Saturday Night Live this weekend — offered a $5,000 bounty to anyone who would disrupt the live broadcast of the Donald Trump-hosted episode by yelling "Trump is a racist" or "Deport racism." It worked too. The Republican presidential candidate was in the middle of his opening monologue when he was interrupted by a shout of "You're a racist!" from the audience.

Saturday Night Live, Ep. 41.04, “Donald Trump/Sia”

Saturday Night Live, Season 41, Episode 4, “Donald Trump/Sia

Airs Saturdays at 11:30 pm Et on NBC (East coast version watched for review)

Let’s get this over with…

The Host: Somebody’s hands were tied—that’s the feeling, anyway. Trump can be a good comedy figure (anyone want wings?) but, Jesus, trying to be funny when you’re running for president and saying inflammatory things on a regular basis makes it incredibly hard to be funny around you. SNL tries to have its cake and eat it too tonight and neither works at all: When they play along, like in the “Trump White House” sketch, the cast and the writing come off as stilted and unenthused; when they try to drill the Donald, no one in the studio audience laughs and it just forces the viewing audience to question why the show would welcome a host they clearly don’t want to be there. »

Donald Trump on 'SNL': 3 Sketches You Have to See

8 November 2015 7:01 AM, PST | | See recent Rolling Stone news »

Saturday Night Live has a variety of metrics that help determine who hosts the show. In a perfect world, "the ability to be funny and mesh with the cast" should be number one, but let's face it: That doesn't always happen, even when someone as controversial as Donald Trump hosts. Hosts that guarantee ratings rather than laughs have been part of the show's DNA since its inception: Someone like Justin Bieber might not have comedy scholars preemptively jumping for joy, but will definitely boost the show's ratings. Larry David Played Bernie Sanders on Saturday Night Live Again, Because He Listens to the Will of the People

8 November 2015 5:56 AM, PST | Vulture | See recent Vulture news »

The American people might have thought that Bernie Sanders’ campaign was a one-debate-and-done deal, but whaddaya know, after his strong showing in SNL's last democratic debate the polls came in and they were nearly unanimous: America needs Bernie. Or rather, America needs Larry David’s impression of Bernie. The show brought David back for the cold open — and a brief appearance as a heckler during Trump’s monologue — proving that America's favorite curmudgeon can really upstage anyone, even Kate McKinnon’s finely-tuned Hillary, even Donald Trump at his Trumpiest, and, well, Martin O'Malley who? (Sorry, Taran Killam.) Hey, even if Sanders never gets the presidency, David can certainly fund a few home renovations with this SNL cash. »

Saturday Night Live Recap: Donald Trump Hosts

8 November 2015 | Hitfix | See recent Hitfix news »

Look, guys, the truth is, none of us can win. No, tonight, we are all Donald Trump’s favorite insult: losers. Donald Trump is running for president. Donald Trump hosted SNL (for the second time, lest we all forget). It happened, and all we can do is try to pick ourselves up, dust ourselves off, and make something of the rubble left behind. And, if you feel like it, you can also read my thoughts on the episode.    Cold Open: MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow conducts the Democratic Candidates Forum. The first sketch of the night was Trump-free and decently funny, although it was also a bit of a retread of last episode’s Democratic Debate cold open. Still, some good-as-always moments from Kate McKinnon as Hillary (“But first, excuse me while I try to sit casually in this chair”) and a welcome return of Larry David as Bernie Sanders (“I »
