Mumbai, April 24: Critically acclaimed actress-director Nandita Das, who took a sabbatical to take care of her baby, is set to be back with a bang - but says she would rather stay away from mainstream cinema.
"I am very happy doing the kind of films that I do. Of course even that's a gamble, not all the films turn the way it is imagined. It's strange, even after 15 years people keep asking me why I don't do commercial films," Nandita said here.
Nandita has explored distinctive characters in her movies like "Fire", "Earth", "Bawandar", "Aks" and "I Am". Nevertheless, she maintains that she has nothing against mainstream commercial. »

This isn't the first time that the brilliant actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui has made a deep impact. In Kabir Khan's New York and Nandita Das' Firaaq, Nawazuddin was singled out by every moviegoer for his resonant portrayals. He's done it again in Sujoy Ghosh's Kahaani. But this time Nawazuddin's turn as a volatile intelligence officer has willy-nilly triggered off a corporate war between two production houses in whose next project Nawazuddin plays an important role. Nawazuddin claims it's a pivotal role. But how pivotal can Nawazuddin be in a film that stars Aamir? In Gangs Of Wasseypur, which comes in two parts, Nawazuddin is cast in the pivotal role in Part 2. He plays a »

She has been in the music industry for over two decades and has some memorable and meaningful songs to her credit, but veteran singer Kavita Krishnamurthy rues the lack of good lyrics in today.s otherwise trendy works..As the generation advances its taste does change and it is not always necessary that they will like what we liked. The old Hindi film songs are evergreen and will be loved even after a decade. What I think about .the happening and trendy songs of this era. is that less attention is given to the lyrics, which are very important part of any composition,. Kavita said in an interview..However, there are some songs, which are really good and are my personal favourites like .Piyu Bole. from .Parineeta. or .Tu na jane aas pas hai khuda. from .Anjana Anjani., .Tere mast mast do nain. from .Dabangg.,. she added.Kavita, 53, has been »

In a year that boasted some huge family friendly blockbusters and multiple films from some of the biggest stars, it was pretty easy for smaller films with tiny budgets, no big name stars or controversial subjects to fly a little under the radar. Here are ten of the best films that may have been appreciated by the critics, but failed to catch fire at the box office.
10. Soundtrack
Based on British “mockumentary” It’s All Gone Pete Tong, Soundtrack takes a premise that was a source of humour in the original film – a superstar DJ going deaf – and turns it into a touching, surprisingly subtly handled story of a man overcoming his demons and his disability. With a fantastic soundtrack (naturally!), as well as some inventive storytelling, Soundtrack has sex, drugs and rock’n'roll covered, as well as a compelling performance in the lead role from Rajeev Khandelwal.
