John Daly was born on July 16, 1937 in London, England. He was a producer and writer, known for The Terminator (1984), Platoon (1986) and The Last Emperor (1987). He died on October 31, 2008 in Los Angeles, California, USA.

Founded the Hemdale Company in 1966 with actor David Hemmings and later in 1971 was the Chairman of Hemdale Group Ltd., which produced and distributed films.
Co-promoted the 1974 boxing match between Muhammad Ali and George Foreman.
Father of Jenny Daly, Michael Daly, Jonathan Daly, Julian Daly, and Timothy Daly.
He produced or co-produced movies that earned 13 Academy Awards and 21 nominations for Best Picture.
He helped launch the careers of directors Oliver Stone, Robert Altman and Bernardo Bertolucci.
After Hemdale went bankrupt in 1992 (with debts over $130 million), Daly assumed directorship of Global Entertainment Assets Corporation, and, in 1998, co-founded the Europe-based production company Greenhills Films.
Was a former journalist.
