The 100 Greatest Lost Hits Of The 80's!

28 November 2012 8:44 AM, PST | The Backlot | See recent The Backlot news »

Back at the beginning of July in the daily Briefs, I started the Official snicks Top 100 Lost Hits of The 80's, spotlighting the 100 greatest minor hits of that decade. The songs you don't hear on any 80's nostalgia show. Songs that missed the top ten, or top twenty ... or top forty, and over the last five months I hope some of these forgotten gems may have rung a long dormant bell, or for younger readers, provided a pop music history lesson.

Here is the complete list, including my favorite lost song of the decade. Thank you for taking this 80's road trip with me ... but it's not over yet! I'll be featuring a new Lost Hit once a week in the Wednesday Briefs, so the history lesson will continue!

Let the countdown commence, and remember ... keep your feet on the ground, and keep reaching for the stars!

We scour the interwebs for the coolest movie news and more so you don't have to ...

Looking over Joseph Gordon-Levitt's filmography, you'd hard pressed to find a movie unworthy of love; if he's in it, all signs point to great. Film.com jumps on a bike for an exclusive Q&A with the "Premium Rush" star and his director, David Koepp.

Well, it looks like they haven't changed what happens at the prom. Inside Movies has the exclusive (and bloody) first look at Chloe Moretz in the upcoming "Carrie" remake. Looking forward to next seeing Julianne Moore as Mama — oh, wait, here she is!

The world would be a better place if more things were inspired by "Better Off Dead." In honor of the John Cusack classic and, in particular, E.G. Daily's performance at the New Year's dance, The Frisky has booked their ten favorite real band performances in movies. »

Don’t You Forget About Me: 'Pretty In Pink,' 'Breakfast Club' & 'Empire Records' Soundtracks Getting Vinyl Reissues For Record Store Day

6 April 2012 9:37 AM, PDT | The Playlist | See recent The Playlist news »

If there are any filmmakers who’ve worked their way through record stores as much as folks like Quentin Tarantino or even Wes Anderson, it would have to be John Hughes and Allan Moyle. So perhaps it’s no real surprise that on annual Record Store Day, where you can come out and support your local independent record stores on April 21st this year, there will be soundtrack reissues from both filmmakers.

First is Hughes’ “The Breakfast Club,” which will surely find many record enthusiasts doing some Judd Hirsch-style fist pumping as they pick up their all-white 12-inch vinyl pressing of the album. It’s hard to capture an entire mood of a film with a single soundtrack, especially when that film lingers on a dreary Saturday spent in detention with a few high school students looking to find themselves like in “The Breakfast Club,” but between the seminal »

Top 100 Most Anticipated Films of 2012: #42. Nick Cassavetes' Yellow

6 January 2012 6:00 PM, PST | ioncinema | See recent ioncinema news »

#42. Yellow Director: Nick CassavetesWriters: Cassavetes and Heather WahlquistProducers: Jordan Gertner, Chris Hanley, David Hillary, Timothy Wayne PeternelDistributor: Seven Arts Entertainment and Gfm Films LLC The Gist: This is about a young woman whose drug habit isn’t the worst of her problems...(more) Cast: Lucy Punch, Sienna Miller, David Morse, Daveigh Chase, Elizabeth Daily, Melanie Griffith, Gena Rowlands, Max Thieriot, Riley Keough and Wahlquist List Worthy Reasons...: Going on year two, we've been anticipating the project when it was first announced (#61 in 2011) and oddly, somewhere along the way Ben Foster dropped out of this indie addiction drama (perhaps Rampart took its place?) which is a shame because he and Cassavetes worked out so well with his Alpha Dog character. On paper this is up our alley and we think this dark comedy might pan out to be an edgier, more worthwhile career choice for this Cassavetes. Release Date/Status? »
