First Look at David Harbour’s ‘Hellboy’

16 September 2017 11:12 AM, PDT | Age of the Nerd | See recent Age of the Nerd news »

A first look of the rebooted Hellboy has been released by Hellboy creator Mike Mignola via Twitter. The image below is actor David Harbour as the half-demon hero and it looks really similar to Guillermo del Toro‘s and Ron Pearlman‘s take on the character.

Mignola’s tweet of the image was captioned with “Holy crap.” We take this as creator approval. Neil Marshall will direct the film which will have Hellboy going to England, where he must defeat Nimue, Merlin’s consort and the Blood Queen. The film will star Milla Jovovich (Resident Evil), Ian McShane (American Gods), new comer Sasha Lane, Penelope Mitchell (The Vampire Diaries) and Daniel Dae Kim (Hawaii Five-o) along side David Harbour.

We will definitely keep you posted on all news Hellboy related! Check back soon.

Holy Hell: See the First Photo of Stranger Things Star David Harbour as Hellboy

15 September 2017 9:25 AM, PDT | POPSUGAR | See recent BuzzSugar news »

Image Source: Lionsgate and Getty / J. Kempin The first official look at the Hellboy reboot is here, and we have to say that we're pleasantly surprised. Stranger Things star David Harbour is taking over for Ron Perlman in the film, due out in 2018, and it looks like the character has gotten a few updates to how he looked in the 2004 and 2008 originals. The demonic hero appears to have ditched his trademark trenchcoat and grown out his hair, for starters. And how about that Right Hand of Doom? Instead of the traditional stone fist that Hellboy uses to battle the occult, the new one looks like it's made out of some kind of metal (and has taken quite the beating). In addition to Harbour, the reboot stars Milla Jovovich as Nimue the Blood Queen, Merlin's consort who wants to bring about the end of the world (Nbd). Hellboy journeys to England »

Hellboy Star Daniel Dae Kim Responds to Whitewash Casting Controversy

14 September 2017 2:17 PM, PDT | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

Lionsgate's Hellboy reboot avoided a potential disaster, when Ed Skrein graciously bowed out from playing Major Ben Daimio, upon learning the character is an Asian-American in the comics, leading to the casting of Daniel Dae Kim this week. Daniel Dae Kim has now released a statement, thanking Ed Skrein for doing the right thing, after his casting sparked a whitewashing outcry from the fans. Here's what Daniel Dae Kim had to say in thanking the producers of Hellboy and Ed Skrein for how he handled this situation.

"I applaud the producers and, in particular, Ed Skrein for championing the notion that Asian characters should be played by Asian or Asian American actors. He could not have addressed the issue more elegantly and I remain indebted to him for his strength of character."

The actor gave his statement to The Hollywood Reporter, where he also confirmed that, not only is his deal finalized, »

Daniel Dae Kim Thanks Ed Skrein For Hellboy Exit After Whitewashing Outcry

14 September 2017 1:15 PM, PDT | POPSUGAR | See recent BuzzSugar news »

Although the casting announcements for the upcoming Hellboy reboot should have been met with excitement, a casting decision regarding one character in particular drew the ire of many fans of the series. Major Ben Daimio, who is Japanese-American in the original comics, was initially going to be played by Deadpool's Ed Skrein, a white British actor. The news ignited an immediate backlash due to accusations of whitewashing, but fortunately this was not another Ghost in the Shell situation. Skrein posted a heartfelt note about why he decided to exit Hellboy on Twitter, and many applauded his words. Soon after, it was revealed that former Hawaii Five-0 star Daniel Dae Kim - who recently left the CBS cop show after the studio refused to pay him as much as his white costars - was awarded the role of Ben Daimio instead. It's an inspired casting choice, and Kim is grateful »

Rumorville: Daniel Dae Kim in Talks to Join the ‘Hellboy’ Reboot

14 September 2017 8:00 AM, PDT | backstage.com | See recent Backstage news »

Welcome to Rumorville! Here you can find out about casting news that’s about to break in Hollywood. These speculations might be only rumors, but that doesn’t mean you can’t follow the trail all the way to the audition room. Despite a whitewashing scandal, the “Hellboy” reboot is still a go at Lionsgate, and they might be a step closer to a new star. In August, Ed Skrein had been cast as Major Ben Daimio, a Japanese-American character from the “Hellboy” comics. After social media backlash over casting a white actor in an Asian-American role, Skrein stepped away from the film, and rumors are circulating that Daniel Dae Kim will take the now vacant spot. Kim recently left CBS’s "Hawaii Five-0,” and he’s also known for his work on "ER,” "Angel,” and "Lost.” No announcements have been made to confirm his part in "Hellboy, but Lionsgate »

Neil Marshall’s Hellboy Sets January 2019 Release Date

14 September 2017 7:23 AM, PDT | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

Capping off a frantic week for Hellboy, Lionsgate and Millennium Films have officially confirmed a January 11th, 2019 release for Neil Marshall’s hotly-anticipated reboot.

Truth be told, that’s a little later than expected, after a piece of suitably hellish artwork released at Cannes hinted that all involved were targeting 2018 for their “dark” and “gruesome” revival. But let’s face it; news that Hellboy plans to spend a little longer in the oven can only be a good thing, particularly after the Powers That Be almost brought the Internet to a standstill late last night by unveiling not one, but two photos of David Harbour kitted out as the world’s greatest paranormal investigator.

Yes, the high-profile reboot formerly known as Rise of the Blood Queen has come on in leaps and bound, casting a who’s who of Hollywood talent (see: Ian McShane, Sasha Lane, Milla Jovovich) since it »

New Hellboy Photo Has a Different Look at David Harbour in Costume

The Hellboy pics just keep on coming. After Lionsgatefinally unveiled a first look at Stranger Things star David Harbour in the upcoming Hellboy reboot, the actor himself decided to share yet another look at the Dark Horse Comics character in his new live-action form. Harbour quickly deleted the post from his social media accounts, but not before the internet got hold of the picture, which is another very brooding and gritty look at the new Hellboy.

As reported by Comic Book Resources, David Harbour took to Twitter in order to share a second picture of his new Hellboy look. This time, the image was in black and white and featured the character standing in front of a staircase with his signature trench coat on. Just as with the first new image, we can see that Harbour's version of Hellboy looks very grizzled and isn't messing around. Not that Ron Perlman »

Neil Marshall’s ‘Hellboy’ Reboot Gets A First-Look Image

13 September 2017 4:01 PM, PDT | The Hollywood News | See recent The Hollywood News news »

Neil Marshall’s forthcoming Hellboy movie has a first-look image. The film, which is about to start production this very month, was said to have been set to open in cinemas in the United States and Canada on January 11th 2019, about sixteen months from now – that news has since been updated by Lionsgate who state that the film does not currently have a release-date set.

Hellboy creator Mike Mignola is co-writing the new movie, which will be directed by frequent Game Of Thrones helmer Marshall, who is also responsible for the likes of The Descent, Dog Soldiers, amongst many others.

The project was originally called Hellboy: Rise Of The Blood Queen, but Lionsgate, who are backing the film, have reduced the title to Hellboy, which we kind of prefer.

The Blood Queen of the former title is the villain of the piece, and will be played in the film by Milla Jovovich. »

Second Hellboy Action Shot Brings Us Closer To David Harbour’s Glowering Half-Demon

13 September 2017 2:32 PM, PDT | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

It’s been a busy day for the world’s greatest paranormal investigator.

On the eve of filming, Lionsgate and Millennium Films conjured up our very first look at David Harbour’s famed anti-hero, replete with an oversized pistol and that signature Fist of Doom. Sporting numerous body scars and a thousand-yard stare, Harbour’s Hellboy is a fairly massive departure from Ron Perlman’s Big Red, whose design was moulded to be slightly more cartoonish to coincide with Guillermo del Toro’s fantastical vision.

And though del Toro’s Hellboy duo is still held in high regard, both Lionsgate and director Neil Marshall have made it clear: the Hellboy of 2018 will mine the darker and more gruesome elements of Mike Mignola’s source material. Just don’t be fooled into thinking that this new take is being angled as an origin story – far from it, according to Harbour. And so, »

David Harbour as Hellboy Revealed

13 September 2017 2:12 PM, PDT | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

At long last, our new Hellboy has been revealed. It was only several months ago that news broke of this upcoming Hellboy reboot, which is to be directed by Neil Marshall (The Descent) with David Harbour (Stranger Things) set to star in the titular role. Now, Lionsgate has released the very first image of Harbour as Hellboy and he looks mean, grizzled and all around pretty awesome.

The first photo of David Harbour from the upcoming reboot was released via the official Hellboy Facebook page. This new version, just as with Ron Perlman's version of the character in the Guillermo Del Toro Hellboy movies, looks very comics-accurate, but with some differences. Not that Perlman's version looked gentle, but this new take looks downright intimidating. It also looks as though some changes have been made to his signature arm and hair, which is now much longer and greasy. All in all, »
