Born and raised in Omaha, Nebraska, Nicholas was a student there at the time of Election (1999). He later moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin to attend school at Marquette University, graduating cum laude with degrees in History and Theatre. Studied poverty and race issues in the Dominican Republic for a semester when he was a student at Marquette University.
His parents, Alan and Deanna, and his siblings are actively involved in Omaha-area community, school, and charitable organizations - serving on numerous boards and chairing fund-raising activities.
