And while it was an emotional scene for viewers, it wasn't easy for Cuoco either.
"I cried at the table read. I cried in the rehearsal. I cried in run-throughs," Cuoco told TVLine. "That’s why I had to take such a long beat, because I thought, 'If I close my eyes, tears are just going to come streaming down my face,' and I wanted it to look more pent-up. I thought, 'Oh, they’ll tighten that [in editing],' but they left it all in there. I guess they liked it."
There's no doubt that viewers liked it, especially because so many of them tuned in.
The show -- which is currently in its sixth season -- racked in 17.6 million viewers on November 15, making »

TVLine invited Kaley Cuoco to share the inside story on the shooting of the scene — including whether Penny’s almost-tears were her own. Also: What’s next for Penny and Leonard, and how »

Last night in an interview with Marion Cotillard on Lately, Chelsea Handler segued from a conversation on working with an animal, per the French actress's latest film Rust and Bone, to sleeping with an animal of the likes of one Will Ferrell, who already comes equipped with huge amorous hubris. "Will Ferrell, I don't want to have sex with you," Cotillard declared to the camera, "but ..." But, nothing. She's a married mother of one. Plus: Jim Parsons explained the agreement he'd made with Kaley Cuoco for that awesome Big Bang Theory flash mob she had coordinated: He says his signature "Bazinga" in exchange for not dancing; and Lily Tomlin read aloud the apology letter she had sent to Wilford Brimley for the premature death pronouncement. These past few weeks have been busy for this columnist, so for the first, and hopefully only, time we will combine two episodes of this 6th season of The Big Bang Theory into one column. Let’s get it on!
“The Habitation Configuration / The 43 Peculiarity”
These past few weeks have really delivered little in the way of story line development for this 6th season, aside from one major revelation and turning point for one of our couples that came in last weeks episode entitled “The 43 Peculiarity.” However, over the last two episodes, we were witness to Howard finally taking the next big step in his marriage with Bernadette: leaving his mother and moving in with his wife full-time. It should come as a surprise to no one that Howard has had a huge issue with leaving his mother permanently, after all it has only been he and his mom for »

The cast and crew of The Big Bang Theory have taken part in a new flashmob video. During filming of a recent episode of the CBS sitcom, the studio audience and showrunners Chuck Lorre, Bill Prady and Steve Molaro were surprised with a sudden live dance routine to Carly Rae Jepsen's 'Call Me Maybe'. In between takes, the main cast members were sitting on the show's famous couch before the summer pop hit began playing in the background. Seemingly confused at first, the cast including Kaley Cuoco (Penny), Kunal Nayyar (Raj), Simon Helberg (Howard), Mayim Bialik (Amy) and Melissa Rauch (Bernadette) join with (more) »

What had Et readers buzzing this week?
1. Janeane Garofalo: I Didn't Know I was Married!
The Reality Bites actress told the New York Post that she and Big Bang Theory producer Rob Cohen decided to wed at a Las Vegas drive-thru chapel but never thought it would stick. "Rob and I got married, for real, which we had to have a notary dissolve not 30 minutes before we got here tonight," Garofalo said at the New York Comedy Festival reunion for The Ben Stiller Show. "We were married for 20 years until this evening."
Garofalo, 48, further explained, "We got married drunk in Vegas. ... We dated for a year, and we got married at a drive-through chapel in a cab. [We thought], 'You have to »
The cast of "The Big Bang Theory" broke character big-time during a live taping for Thursday night's (Nov. 15) episode -- with a flash mob!
Just after action was called on a scene for "The 43 Peculiarity," the actors -- including Jim Parsons, Johnny Galecki and Kaley Cuoco -- seemed startled as the opening bars of Carly Rae Jepsen's summer smash, "Call Me Maybe," sounded through the stage. Moments later, the "Bbt" crew assembled in front them and launched into a synchronized dance.
Then, with Cuoco -- who orchestrated the surprise and enlisted her sister to choreograph it -- leading the way, the actors got up and joined in as the mob grew. Showrunner Chuck Lorre may not have been in on the gag -- his astonishment seems genuine.
Unfortunately, the video released by CBS is heavily edited and shows just a small portion of the event. "Fyi that was only a tiny piece of it! »
[Warning: This story contains spoilers from Thursday's "The 43 Peculiarity."] CBS' The Big Bang Theory took one giant leap for Penny and Leonard during Thursday's episode. After months years seasons of on-again-off-again romantic tension between lovably loyal Leonard (Johnny Galecki) and the girl across the hall Penny (Kaley Cuoco), the latter finally muttered the three little words that she's thus far been unable to say to her boyfriend in six seasons. That's right, Penny finally told Leonard she loved him -- but there was (naturally!) a catch. Photos: Behind the Scenes: 'The Big Bang Theory' During the

Contrary to what many might think, sitcom tapings can be long and boring. The studio audience is forced to laugh as obnoxiously as possible at jokes they've heard five takes in a row and are only rewarded with a measly slice of pizza for dinner. Kaley Cuoco must have taken notice because during the taping of Thursday's "Big Bang Theory" episode, she organized a special treat for those providing the laugh track. Watch the cast and crew of the CBS ratings juggernaut surprise the audience and creator Chuck Lorre with a »

The characters on "The Big Bang Theory" (Thursdays at 8 p.m. Et on CBS) are known for their straight-laced nature and brainy observations, but sometimes the cast likes to shake things up a bit.
During an Oct. 23 taping, the "Big Bang Theory" cast shocked the audience with a flash mob to Carly Rae Jepsen's "Call Me Maybe," according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The seven main actors -- Kunal Nayyar (Raj), Simon Helberg (Howard), Johnny Galecki (Leonard), Mayim Bialik (Amy), Melissa Rauch (Bernadette), Jim Parsons (Sheldon) and Kaley Cuoco (Penny) -- jumped into a coordinated "Big Bang" flash mob that included some of the rest of the cast and crew.
Cuoco, who led the group, began teasing fans about the big surprise on Wednesday before making the big reveal Thursday.
The kicker of the performance was at the end when Parsons, back in Sheldon mode, told the crowd "Bazinga!"
