ABC lands Goldberg-Meehan pilot

Shana Goldberg-Meehan is back in business with ABC. The network has given a pilot order to a politically themed comedy from Goldberg-Meehan and Warner Bros. TV. The untitled project, which Goldberg-Meehan wrote and will executive produce, is described as an ensemble comedy set against a Washington backdrop. This past development season, Goldberg-Meehan created and executive produced a comedy pilot for ABC that starred Marisa Coughlan and Kaley Cuoco as two very different sisters. »

Cuoco takes on sister act; Ross finds 'Community'

Kaley Cuoco has landed one of the leads in ABC's untitled sisters comedy pilot, Oliver Hudson has been cast in CBS' comedy pilot The Weekend, and Marion Ross been tapped for NBC's comedy pilot Community Service. In other casting news, Yara Martinez has joined Fox's drama pilot Faceless. The untitled sisters project, from Warner Bros. Television, revolves around two sisters who live together despite having grown up under different circumstances -- one rich, one poor. Cuoco will portray Gabby, the younger sister to Marisa Coughlan's character. »

Charmed: Has the Halliwell Sister Magic Run Out?

Charmed, which recently celebrated a milestone as being the longest-running show featuring all female leads, may be headed for a big finish. Last year, it looked like the WB's long-running show about beautiful witches was going to be cancelled but the series was given a new season order at the last minute. This year, with the contracts of the female leads (Alyssa Milano, Holly Marie Combs, Rose McGowan and Kaley Cuoco) and executive producer Brad Kern expiring, it looks doubtful there will be a ninth season.

In a recent interview with TV Guide, Kern said, "Nobody at WB will commit one way or the other. I've heard nothing about it. As far as I'm concerned, this is it. Last year the show was held in limbo, but fortunately 'the governor called' and we got another year. I wasn't able to craft a season or series finale [then], so I did sort of a hybrid, »
