Album of the Week: U.K. - U.K.

5 February 2017 1:54 PM, PST | www.culturecatch.com | See recent CultureCatch news »

R.I.P., Mr. John Wetton, you provided many of the songs for the soundtrack of my youth with your bass playing, and vocals, in Roxy Music, King Crimson, Uriah Heap, Asia, and your debut album with the quartet U.K. embedded above. For me you reached the zenith of your artistic expression with said progressive rock super band. From 1977 until 1980, you, keyboardist/electric violinist Eddie Jobson (Curved Air, Roxy Music, Frank Zappa), guitarist Allan Holdsworth (Soft Machine, Tempest, The New Tony Williams Lifetime, Gong) through 1978, and drummer Bill Bruford (Yes, King Crimson, tour drummer for Genesis), who was later replaced by drummer Terry Bozzio (formerly of Frank Zappa's band). There is some tremendous Youtube footage of the reformed U,K, with Wetton, Eddie Jobson and Terry Bozzio from their 2012 world tour. No doubt King Crimson, circa 1972 - 1974, boasting guitar maestro Robert Fripp, Wetton, violinist/keyboardist David Cross and drummer »

Many people in the entertainment industry are up in arms about President Donald Trump’s new executive order to close the nation’s border to refugees around the world and temporarily suspend immigration from seven predominately Muslim countries. “The Salesman” Iranian actress Taraneh Alidoosti, whose movie is nominated for an Oscar in the Best Foreign Language Film category, is boycotting the ceremony in protest of the Muslim travel ban and now comedian and actor David Cross is also calling for a “full and complete boycott of the Oscars this year.”

“No one show up. Put your money where your mouth is Hollywood,” he tweeted Saturday morning. “I’m serious (regarding now-banned Iranian filmmaker). Everyone who’s tweeted, ‘Take a stand against Trump!’ Now Is Your Chance. Do it.”

There really should be a Full & Complete boycott of the Oscars this year. No one show up. Put your money where your mouth is Hollywood. »

Brian Grazer Says Arrested Development Season 5 Is On Its Way

12 January 2017 6:56 AM, PST | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

Arrested Development fans rejoice, for it seems that Imagine Entertainment and Netflix have finally found that extra money in the banana stand – making season 5 almost a done deal. The streaming platform confirmed its commitment to the series almost immediately after the long awaited fourth season debuted on its service in May 2013, and creator Mitch Hurwitz has repeatedly hinted at the direction he’s taking with scripts for further episodes – but recent comments from Brian Grazer at the Television Critics Association are the closest thing we have had to confirmation that the Bluths are coming back.

“We are close. I think we found a way to create the compensation structure for all the actors and create a work matrix so they can still make movies and do other things and it will all integrate. So we are really close — I think within a couple of weeks at the most.”
