Scream Factory is putting in overtime with a handful of stunning steelbooks celebrating three great John Carpenter films—They Live, The Fog and Escape From New York—as well as a Collector’s Edition of James Gunn’s Slither and the indie horror films Don’t Knock Twice and House on Willow Street (which they’ve teamed up with IFC Midnight for).
As far as recent genre movies go, Colossal, Shin Godzilla, and Phoenix Forgotten are all primed for their home bow on August 1st, and both Paramount and Universal are dusting off a bunch of recent titles on both DVD and Blu-ray, including Disturbia, The Machinist, Red Eye, and the unrated version of The Ruins.

Mark Raso (“Copenhagen”) is directing from a script by Jonathan Tropper. The film is based on A.G. Sulzberger’s 2010 New York Times article “For Kodachrome Fans, Road Ends at Photo Lab in Kansas” about a father and son who take a road trip to Kansas in order to develop photographs at Kodak’s last Kodachrome lab before it closes its doors for good.
Producers are Tropper; Gotham Group’s Ellen Goldsmith-Vein and Eric Robinson; 21 Laps Entertainment’s Dan Levine and Shawn Levy; and Leon Clarance of Motion Picture Capital, which is fully financing. Jo Monk and Dan Cohen are executive producing.

The Hollywood Reporter has the scoop, confirming that the actress has joined Ed Harris and Jason Sudeikis in the feature, one the centers on “a record label boss who embarks on a road trip across the U.S. in order to fulfill his father’s dying wish and have a roll of Kodachrome film developed, only to find there’s just one remaining shop accepting them.”
