Richard Cox was born on May 6, 1948 in New York City, New York, USA as Richard Zuckerman. He is an actor, known for Cruising (1980), Guiding Light (1952) and Looking for Richard (1996).

Was nominated for Broadway's 1979 Tony Award as Best Actor (Featured Role - Musical) for "Platinum."
While attending Yale Cox was awarded fellowships to go to Japan, Bali, Samoa and Poland.
Has a B.A. in anthropology from Yale.
Has performed in summer theater at the Peterborough Players in New Hampshire.
Served as best man at the wedding of Yale classmate and Doonesbury cartoonist Garry Trudeau and Jane Pauley.
He performed on Broadway with Ingrid Bergman in "Captain Brassbound's Conversion" before going to Hollywood in 1975 with the national company of "Grease".
Cox went to private schools before attending Yale and majoring in both drama and anthropology.
The only child of Gabe Zuckerman and Roseanna Cox, who both began as professional dancers. His father left show business to become a real estate agent. His mother, a psychotherapist, still performs every summer in Peterboro, N.H. He appeared on stage there with her at age 8.
