Brenda Cowling was born on April 23, 1925 in Islington, London, England as Brenda Rose Cowling. She is known for her work on Octopussy (1983), Pink Floyd: The Wall (1982) and You Rang, M'Lord? (1988). She died on October 2, 2010 in Denville Hall, Northwood, London.

Attended RADA in the 1940s, where she was a classmate of Warren Mitchell and Jimmy Perry. Cowling would later make guest appearances in sitcoms co-written by Perry: Dad's Army (1968), It Ain't Half Hot Mum (1974) and Hi-de-Hi! (1980). She then got a regular role in a Perry sitcom when she played Mrs. Lipton in You Rang, M'Lord? (1988).
Retired following a stroke in 2006.
Her father worked in publishing.
Prior to acting, she worked as a secretary for a London stockbroker.
