After nine eventful series, ITV's Dancing on Ice finally hangs up its skates this Sunday (March 9).

Since its launch on January 14, 2006, the show has given us some truly memorable comedic moments - with Todd Carty's stumble off the rink in series four certainly springing to mind.

As ITV prepares to broadcast the last televised Bolero performance from Olympian duo Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean and crown its final pair of winners, we present ten facts about Dancing on Ice in celebration of all things icy and sparkly.

2. Alongside all this training and coaching, the Olympic champions have also performed 90 different routines themselves for the show over the nine years.

In what is a personality-driven marketplace bets are on that America’s newest emerging sports star, Gold, 18, has the potential to become the Tiger Woods of ice skating and lure back an American audience that has gone Awol. But as she prepares for her final big test of these games, her budding celebrity will only heighten the pressure she feels on Thursday while competing for what could be a life-changing gold medal in the ladies free skating competition.

Gold arrives in the role of rising star with newfound credibility having just won the U.S. National Ladies Singles Championship. But until she »
