‘Wasteland’ Review

Stars: Christopher Mann, Laura L. Cottrel, K.J. Linhein, Ernie Hudson, Doug Bradley, Tom Detrik, Kevin Fennell | Written and Directed by Christian Grillo

Originally titled Deer Crossing, Wasteland comes from Christian Grillo, who not only wrote and directed the film but also edited it a well; and judging by the end result he should probably had help on all three counts! I always approach low-budget independent cinema with an open mind and nary an expectation, after all you can’t compare these types of flicks to big-budget Hollywood flicks. But what you can can do is compare them to others of their ilk – and even comparing it to the lowest of low budget flicks, Wasteland fares pretty badly…

The film sees Maggie Chancelor and her son Cole involved in an accident on their way to visit family. The pair are found by Lukas, a farmer, who takes them to his farm

A Hunting We Will Go at the Deer Crossing

In the world of horror movies, one thing is for sure... the last thing on any hunter's mind is nailing himself a buck at a Deer Crossing. Nope, in our world it's people that are in the scope of some maniacal madman who kills for sport. Read on!

Deer Crossing is a horror-drama from the mind of Christian Jude Grillo, who wrote, produced, and directed the feature film. It stars Christopher Mann (Booley), Laura L. Cottrel (The Sickness), Ernie Hudson (Ghostbusters), Doug Bradley (Hellraiser franchise), Carmela Hayslett (Roxsy Tyler’s Carnival of Horrors), Jennifer Butler (Rubicon), and Jeanette Branch.

The film follows “Detective Derrick Stanswood (Christopher Mann), who’s called in personally by a successful doctor on a case that was shelved eight years ago about the disappearance of Maggy Chancellor (Laura Lynn Cottrel) and her son, Cole.”

Throwing Tomatoes at Deer Crossing: A Movie Review

*full disclosure: an online screening of this film was provided by Osiris Entertainment. Director/writer: Christian Grillo. Cast: Christopher Mann, Laura L. Cottrel, Doug Bradley, Ernie Hudson and K.J. Linhein. Osiris Entertainment is one of this film fan's favourite distributors. They are based in Chatsworth, California and they tend to pick indie productions for their markets. Some of their films have been excellent such as: Ashes, Monsters in the Woods and Night Drive. But, every so often they will back a dismal project like Behind Your Eyes. Deer Crossing falls in this second less thrilling category. Deer Crossing is an indie film production that was likely made for under 15K. The film notably stars: Doug Bradley (Hellraiser), Ernie Hudson (The Crow) and Christopher Mann. These actors are under utilized in a film that has no sense of pacing. There is no tension here, in what is supposed to be a thriller.

Double Fury – Martial Arts Action Film with Cynthia Rothrock Coming Soon

Cool! 56 year old Cynthia Rothrock is back! Rothrock was the undefeated middleweight Kickboxing/Weapons lady champion for five consecutive years and starred in a boatload of Dtv action adventures in the ’80s and ’90s. She has not been in a film since 2004′s Sci-fighter but she’s making a comeback in Double Fury, to be filmed this summer, and I’m kinda jazzed!

Here are the details:

SaintSinner Entertainment (www.saintsinnerent.com) along with Jaunted Productions (www.jauntedproductions.com) is currently in pre-production for a martial arts action film that’ll shoot this summer titled Double Fury.

The film was written and will be directed by Amel J. Figueroa (The Quiet Ones) sees veteran martial arts action stars (and my favourite on screen pairing) Richard Norton and Cynthia Rothrock re-teaming once again for the film which follows two estranged brothers brought back together after their father is murdered by a megalomaniacal madman who’s looking for a volatile package in one of their possession that could destroy all that they hold dear.

Double Fury also features a number of rising stars Cyrus Samson (Night of the Living Dead – 2012), Dennis Ronin (The Sickness), Natalie Amenula (Hamlet 2), Cynthia Housel (Iniquity), Rommel Gargoles (Black Ninja) and Laura Lynn Cottrel (The Replacements
