Fox has issued an apology for using footage of the Westgate shopping mall shooting to depict a fictional terrorist attack on Monday’s episode of “24: Legacy.”

A representative from Fox confirmed that the footage was indeed from the 2013 terrorist attack in Nairobi, stressing that the producers “very much regret using it.”

“In episode 4 of ’24: Legacy’ we regretfully included news footage of an attack in Nairobi,” reads a statement from the show’s executive producers, Evan Katz and Manny Coto. “It will be removed from all future broadcasts and versions of the show. We apologize for any pain caused to the victims and their families and are deeply sorry.”

The scene in question took place on the show’s most recent episode, “3:00 Pm – 4:00 Pm,” in which U.S. officials are shown footage from the central villain’s previous terror attacks. They use the video, showing masked gunmen shooting civilians in a mall and crowds »

24: Legacy Season 1 Episode 2 Review – ‘1:00 Pm – 2:00 Pm’

Ricky Church reviews the second episode of 24: Legacy…

As 24: Legacy continued with its second episode, Corey Hawkins still impressed as Army Ranger Eric Carter, but he’s becoming even more of a carbon copy of Jack Bauer with this instalment of the series. ‘1:00 Pm – 2:00 Pm’ was still an enjoyable episode, but unfortunately leaned a bit too much on the usual tropes from of the original series, something I feared might happen with the series premiere.

As the episode progressed, Carter showed the same kind of moral ambiguity and disregard for protocol that Bauer was known for as Carter kidnapped a pair of police officers in order to steal a bunch of evidence money. It’s a little far-fetched to believe he had to go through all that in order to get the terrorists’ cell phone from his former partner. Time is obviously short, but he and »

24: Legacy Producers on Eric Carter v Jack Bauer, Post Super Bowl Slot & More!

4 February 2017 6:00 AM, PST | TVfanatic | See recent TVfanatic news »

We had the opportunity to sit with the executive producers of 24: Legacy at New York Comic Con this past fall.

We have the full chat with Evan Katz, Howard Gordon and Manny Coto in the video below.

During the discussion they express their feelings on Jimmy Smit's presence being one of his qualifications as President, and share thoughts on the past presidents from other installments of 24.

Co-star Miranda Otto, too, has the weight, intelligence and complexity to bring a natural feel to her role.

But what about Corey Hawkins? They talk about whether he's prepared for 24 mania and the rabid fandom that comes from starring on a TV show versus what he's experienced from his starring turn in Straight Outta Compton.

They also discuss Hawkins' classical training and his grace as a performer, which lends itself to his undeniable charisma.

As to how the audience will compare Hawkins' Eric Carter »

‘24: Legacy’ Cast and Producers Talk Series’ Trump Era Prescience

31 January 2017 9:04 AM, PST | Variety - TV News | See recent Variety - TV News news »

The “24”-verse and the real world have always been more alike than some viewers may be comfortable with. The series premiere was originally supposed to include a plane exploding — after the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, that particular pilot plot point had to be scrubbed. In the sixth season of “24,” all Muslim Americans had their civil liberties suspended after a rash of suicide bombings. On Friday evening, President Trump signed an executive order prohibiting citizens of seven Muslim-majority countries from entering the United States, even those who had been given refugee status or legal visas.

It was in that atmosphere that the cast and executive producers of “24: Legacy,” Fox’s expansion of the Jack Bauer cinematic universe, descended on New York for their premiere. The new installment of the franchise centers around Eric Carter (Corey Hawkins), a recently returned Army Ranger who finds himself the target of a terrorist plot.

24: Legacy spoiler-free episode 1 review

Chris Longo Feb 16, 2017

CTU has a new hero. Here are some spoiler-free thoughts on Fox's new reboot, 24: Legacy, which arrived in the UK last night...

As cynical and sick of franchises, reboots, revivals, and remakes as we are or pretend to be in the comments section (everyone seemed pretty stoked about Rogue One), audiences are smart enough to know that Hollywood won’t budge on this trend anytime soon. They’ll shake every last dollar they can get out of the Revival Era as long as we keep our sticky fingers on our smartphones, tablets, and remotes.

24: Legacy – Rules Of Engagement Prequel Comic Launches In April

18 January 2017 9:49 AM, PST | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

Not to be outdone by Marvel’s Rogue One: A Star Wars Story Adaptation, Idw is getting back into the tie-in game when 24: Legacy makes the jump to the comic book medium with Rules of Engagement.

In the past, Idw has found much success with a variety of series tied to properties originating in television and video games. Whether it be G.I. Joe, Silent Hill, or Metal Gear Solid, they’ve offered something for just about anybody. And seeing as how this isn’t their first rodeo involving 24, it only makes sense continuing that proud tradition.

Perhaps this five-part limited series will make the new Fox show an easier sell. After all, when one becomes attached to Kiefer Sutherland’s Jack Bauer for so long, getting used to another character may take some time.  Seeing as how newcomer Eric Carter’s background will be detailed in this project, »

New 24: Legacy trailer features the return of an original series character

11 January 2017 12:56 PM, PST | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

A new trailer for 24: Legacy has been released, further showcasing the plight of Corey Hawkins’ ex-Army Ranger Eric Carter as terrorists attempt to kill him and fulfill an attack against America. The trailer also shows the return of Tony Almeida, played by Carlos Bernard in the original 24, as he’s recruited from prison to help stop the new attack.

Tony’s appearance in Legacy only further connects the reboot to the original series and one has to wonder how long it may be until Keifer Sutherland reprises his famous role as Jack Bauer for 24: Legacy, assuming he ever does, or if Mary Lynn Rajskub will also return as hacker Chloe O’Brien.

Are there any other original 24 characters you’d like to see in Legacy? Let us know in the comments below…
