Montana born, Idaho raised, Carol Cortne spent her early years in the
wide open spaces; snow-skiing, horseback riding, hiking, hunting and
river rafting. It never occurred to this outdoor girl that women wore
anything other than boots - that is, until she stepped out of the
mountains and into the big city. It was there, in a moment of
metamorphosis that she decided to trade her spurs in for high heels and
in that instant, Carol was transformed from a hunter, into the hunted.
Seemingly overnight the tall blonde's leggy frame became a target of
photographer's lens. And in a flash, the fashion runways, on which her
high-heels walked, led her to the Salt Lake City branch of the Ford
Modeling Agency. Feeling comfortable in the spotlight Carol enrolled in
the University of Utah, where she majored in Musical Theatre. It was an
experience. The stage became her second home. But under all the
make-up, she was still an outdoor girl. So when the opportunity arose
to learn the acrobatic art of aerial ballet snow skiing, Carol kicked
off her heels, snapped on her ski's and 'schussed' to California. The
West coast's wide open spaces offered Carol an endless variety of
opportunities. In between ski runs she got her 'spotlight fix' as a
member of an all-female rock band. The exposure she received touring
the Pacific Coast and Canada led to an even larger musical revue that
took her to Mexico and the Caribbean. But eventually even Carol had to
settle down. Donning her heels once more, she called upon her hunting
skills and quickly bagged a position with a real estate firm. Her role?
