It’s official. “Shameless” has been renewed for Season 8, Variety has learned.
The announcement comes the day after “Shameless” wrapped up its seventh season with the finale airing last night.
The renewal follows a contract dispute over equal pay with star Emmy Rossum, which was settled last week. After a standoff with the network and studio, Warner Bros. TV, the actress had tweeted that she is “so happy to continue” with her “Shameless” family and would be back to work on the show in May, paving the way for an eighth season. However, at the time of her post, insiders told Variety that the renewal was not made official because deals for all cast members had not yet been closed.

Can someone check Frank's vitals to make sure he's actually alive?
On Shameless Season 7 Episode 1 we got confirmation that Frank survived being thrown from a bridge into the icy depths of despair, but should we really be surprised?
William H. Macy is one of those actors that shows won't let go of without a fight. He effortlessly embodies the role of Frank and the show would not be the same without him.
No matter how many wicked things he does, he will always find a way to worm his way back into the Gallagher household... even if that means bolting up a door so no one can get in.
Frank has always had a sense of entitlement about his children helping him. He's too thick to understand that he's never done a good deed for his kids without an ulterior motive.
That's probably the best explanation for why Fiona hates his guts. »

Zach Braff is eyeing his broadcast TV return, as he’s put into development a single-camera comedy “Start Up” in which he’s attached to star, direct and executive produce. ABC nabbed the project with a hefty put pilot commitment. The pilot will be written by “Scrubs” writer/producer Matt Tarses, marking a reunion between him and Braff — and also a reunion between Braff and ABC, which was home to “Scrubs” for its eight and ninth season, after being axed by NBC. “Start Up” is based on Alex Blumberg’s popular podcast of the same name, and the series would follow Braff’s character as he quits his job and starts a new business. The wheels kept on turning this week on The Young and the Restless.
Victor went from the courtroom to the board room (not really, it just sounds good) as he was released after the entire family testified on his behalf. But it's already come back to bite some of them in the behind. As if we didn't see that coming.
Chloe made her presence known all over town, and with only one really awful reaction to Adam's imprisonment, nobody seemed to tie her return to his misfortune. No, we don't expect that to last.
Let's dig into all of that and the rest of the dirt out of Genoa City!
Phyllis had a very bad week. At least if you were Phyllis. For viewers, I'm not so sure. It depends upon where you fall on the issues. And let's be real, her issues are as hotly debated as the 2016 presidential election. »

Things are a little different with Shameless Season 7.
Not only is it coming back earlier than normal (yay!), but it's entirely possible it's not all bad news ahead for the Gallaghers.
Is that even possible?!
Helping the family out will be some new faces cast for the upcoming season.
Alicia Coppola has been added to the cast as Sue, a blue-collar, no-nonsense woman, according to Deadline, who is the supervisor of the group of EMTs where Ian is working.
That's right, Ian, who was once hardly the picture of stability and normalcy, is doing really well as an Emt and has a steady relationship.
We hope her character, Sue, has better luck with the Gallaghers. Nobody needs to be jerked around by crazy family and then another!!
The new season will »

Things are still moving forward at a pretty fast pace on The Young and the Restless.
It really feels like they're in the midst of out with the old in with the new, and I like it.
So Ian escapes from the courtroom after Victor committed so much perjury even he couldn't possibly keep track of it all, and Meredith ultimately helped Victor escape police custody in the hospital to save the day.
The police are clowns in Genoa City, aren't they?
At first, Dylan and Paul were all over the place trying to figure out who helped Ian escape. Why Adam and Chelsea admitted to their plan is a mystery, but Adam was already on house arrest (can anybody explain that?), so it didn't really matter.
If Adam left the apartment, it would only be three for three escapes in the week.
Meredith listened in on the family chats with the Newmans, »

A lot has happened while I've been away.
I was in NY for CBS press day (summer prime time shows) and then at the Atx festival (all TV all the time!), and then this week The Young and the Restless was preempted three times. Meanwhile, the showrunner was fired, word is characters are on their way out...sheesh!
So, forgive me for my absences and if I miss anything that went down this week, because in case you didn't know, the Pittsburgh Penguins won the Stanley Cup, and a parade with over 300k people filling the streets gets priority in my hometown!
Now. Let's get to the good stuff. Ashley isn't the only one being driven nuts by Hillary.
Yes, Hillary is relapsing. Or is she?
Until Friday, I fully believed Hillary was about to succumb to a coma again like the other patients in the drug trial. She is »

Here comes trouble, Genoa City.
Stause will recur as Bethany Bryant, a young woman who relishes the chance to push things to the limit and live dangerously as long as she’s not the one who gets burned. The wild child will find herself immersed in a prominent family’s juicy drama when she first appears on Wednesday, May 25.
Dancing With the Stars has only been back for a week, but a pro is already down for the count.
