20th Century Fox Television has inked an overall deal with “Life in Pieces” creator Justin Adler, Variety has learned.

The pact secures Adler’s exec producing and writing responsibilities on “Life in Pieces” for two years, plus allows him to bring development projects into the studio.

“‘Life in Pieces’ is as unique and groundbreaking in its format as it is heartwarming and funny — it’s no wonder it became the highest rated new comedy of last season. Full credit goes entirely to its creator Justin Adler, who wrote the pilot on spec and delivered an inspired take on the family sitcom based on experiences and relationships from his own life. This deal keeps this gifted, inventive writer we love running the show, and allows us to develop other projects with him going forward,” said Jonnie Davis, 20th Century Fox Television president of creative affairs.
