TNT – “We know drama” – is developing, you guessed it, a new drama series. Penned by Mick Davis (Eleventh Hour), this action-adventure series is called Wasteland and promises to be more on the supernatural side of things.
According to Variety, the show will be set in the American Southwest and “involves a U.S. marshal who is charged with hunting down the supernatural escapees on the run following a federal prison break.”
“Supernatural escapees” brings to mind the days of Reaper or Clark hunting down Phantoms in Smallville, but I’m sure as we get more details Wasteland will prove itself far different from anything over at the CW.
Wasteland will be exec produced by Davis along with Robert C. Cooper and J.J. Jamieson with Jordan Helman as co-exec producer.

The TNT Network has claimed time and time again that they know drama. That seems to be what they refer to everything as. We've watched flicks ranging from Animal House to Salem's Lot, and each time the "We Know Drama" bug pops up. Go figure. Anyway, the studio has a new supernatural series coming up that's being billed as - you guessed it - action-adventure drama. Come on, guys! Embrace the genre!
According to Variety TNT has bought a script from Mick Davis and is now in development on a project called "Wasteland."
From FremantleMedia North America and Landscape Entertainment, the show will be set in the American Southwest and will tell the tale of a U.S. marshal who is charged with hunting down supernatural escapees on the run following a federal prison break.
Davis was an exec producer and writer on CBS' Rufus Sewell starrer "Eleventh Hour," which ran for one season. »

Eta for The Transporter TV series is 2012, sans Jason Statham.
Joseph Mallozzi and Paul Mullie, showrunners on the yet-to-debut Transporter television series, have left the show, according to Deadline.com. The report cites “creative differences” as the reason for their departure.
The Transporter TV series is a spin-off from the successful film franchise written and produced by Luc Besson and starring Jason Statham. Chris Vance assumes Statham’s role in the show.
The 12-episode first (and possibly only) season is being filmed in Toronto with Besson, Fred Fuchs and Robert Cooper as executive producers. Mullie, Mallozzi and Cooper previously worked together on the Stargate franchise.
Steven Shill, who was recently drafted into the backroom staff, takes over as the new showrunner. The series is expected to debut sometime in 2012. Writing about his departure on his blog, Mallozzi thanked the production team and gave his thumbs up to his successor.

Cinemax has announced that they have started production on the new Transporter television series. This new show is an adaptation of the action-packed Luc Besson and Jason Statham films. Besson is an executive producer on the series, but Statham will not be reprising his role. The role of the Transporter has been filled by Chris Vance (Burn Notice), who I think will end up doing a fine job in the series. I've enjoyed watching the Transporter films, and even though Statham isn't involved with the series I'm still excited about it and willing to give it a shot. It could end up being pretty awesome! The 12-part action series is set to debut on Cinemax in 2012.

When you hear that Robert Zemeckis is producing a film featuring a mix of animated and live-action characters -- that is, the animated characters are explicitly animated within the world of the film -- what do you think of? If you said Cool World, you're close. Since Robert Zemeckis has steadily talked about a Roger Rabbit sequel over the years, this announcement of another film in a very similar vein seems awfully strange. More details after the break. Badass Digest [1] pointed me towards a Variety [2] article that says Rob Edwards (The Princess and the Frog screenwriter) is writing Animated American for producers Robert Zemeckis and Bob Cooper. The film is about "an animated baby raised by a live-action family until his 18th birthday, when he decides to find his real family with the help of his friend and her jealous boyfriend." As Bd notes, it seems really weird that Robert Zemeckis »

The director of Who Framed Roger Rabbit might be making a second movie that blends the worlds of traditional animation and live action together. Robert Zemeckis, who's spent the majority of the last decade in the world of motion capture performance filmmaking, is now attached to a new Walt Disney project called Animated American.
Just as Roger Rabbit had a main character who was animated and interacting with the real world, so too is the hook for Animated American -- except this time, the toon isn't a rabbit. The movie is about an cartoon infant who gets raised to adulthood by live-action parents. When the kid reaches the age of 18, he sets out to learn who his real parents were and why he was left to be raised by flesh and blood folk. Joining the toon teen is a human friend and her jealous boyfriend.

Perhaps best known for his work on Disney’s recent animated flick, The Princess and the Frog, Rob Edwards has been slated to write two new films for Warner Bros. and Disney respectively. In Warner Bros.’ Amulet, based on the graphic novel series by Kazu Kibuishi, two teenaged siblings find that they are the last surviving guardians who must learn the secrets of a powerful amulet to save a magical realm. In Disney’s Animated American, a live-action/animation hybrid, a flesh-and-blood family raises an animated baby until he turns 18 and sets off to find his real family. Robert Zemeckis is set to produce Animated American alongside Bob Cooper and Dan Fogelman. Neither film has a start date as of yet. For more on Edwards’ writing background and some casting news for Amulet, hit the jump. Variety reports that Will Smith, who will produce Amulet alongside James Lassiter, is rumored to star alongside his son, »

Disney is going to work on developing a new live-action animated hybrid film called Animated America. Robert Zemeckis, Bob Cooper and Dan Fogelman are all attached to produce the film. Disney recently pulled the plug on Zemeckis' Yellow Submarine film project, and he's also attached to produce a horror film about killer gnomes, and still working on bring a Roger Rabbit sequel to life.
The Princess and the Frog screenwriter Rob Edwards has been hired to write the script for Animated America. The story "revolves around an animated baby raised by a live-action family until his 18th birthday, when he decides to find his real family with the help of his friend and her jealous boyfriend."
I gotta say... that is a very interesting concept. A cartoon baby being raised by a human family? That's so weird, but I love it.
