Oscar Sound Contenders Could Sweep Again This Year

Oscar Sound Contenders Could Sweep Again This Year
The contenders in both sound categories are the same, a first since the Academy expanded sound editing from three to five films in 2007.

Traditionally, neither has aligned with the big prize, the last being 2009’s “The Hurt Locker,” but the dual nominations of “Baby Driver,” “Blade Runner 2049,” “Dunkirk,” “The Shape of Water” and “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” could lead to a sweep similar to past nominees “Mad Max: Fury Road” (2015), “Gravity” (2013), “Hugo” (2011) and the aforementioned Kathryn Bigelow film.

Mary H. Ellis, part of the sound mixing team for “Baby Driver,” is the sixth woman nominated for sound mixing and only the second female production sound mixer to ever be nominated. Along with re-recording mixers Tim Cavagin and Julian Slater, who were also nominated for its sound editing, the team polished crisp dialogue wrapped in a symphony of music and choreography for the Edgar Wright film. The entire sonic world was shaped around the perspective of Baby

The Full List of 2018 Oscar Nominations are in and The Shape Of Water Lands 13 of Them!

The nominations for the 2018 Academy Awards are in and Guillermo del Toro's fantastic film, The Shape of Water, did pretty damn good as it leads the pack with thirteen of the nominations! Those include Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actor, Best Original Screenplay and more. This was one of my favorite movies of the year, so it was great to see it get a lot of love.

Christopher Nolan's Dunkirk ended up with eight nominations, including Best Picture and Best Director. Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri received seven nominations, including Best Picture, Best Actress, and Best Supporting Actor. Jordan Peele's Get Out also landed a few nominations including Best Director, which was cool!

As expected, James Franco and his film The Disaster Artist got snubbed amid sexual misconduct allegations surrounding the actor.

Here is the list of 2018 Oscar nominations. Read through them and let

‘Deadpool 2’ Not Expected to Recast T.J. Miller Following Sexual Abuse Allegations

‘Deadpool 2’ Not Expected to Recast T.J. Miller Following Sexual Abuse Allegations
“Deadpool 2” won’t be following in the footsteps of “All the Money in the World” and removing an actor accused of sexual misconduct. Lauren Shuler Donner, who has produced all the “X-Men” movies to date, has told Rotten Tomatoes that the Ryan Reynolds-starring superhero film is currently in its final editing stage and will probably not be removing T.J. Miller from the picture. The actor and comedian plays Wade Wilson’s foul-mouthed best friend and bar owner Weasel in the superhero franchise.

In November, the BBC announced that it had delayed its planned Christmas premiere of the Agatha Christie adaptation Ordeal By Innocence after allegations of rape were made against one of its stars, Ed Westwick.

The former Gossip Girl star is set to be replaced by Christian Cooke, who will be shooting his scenes this month. Co-stars including Bill Nighy, Anna Chancellor, Anthony Boyle and Alice Eve will join Cooke on location in Scotland for the reshoots.

In addition to removing Westwick from Ordeal By Innocence, the BBC also halted production on the second series of the comedy White Gold, which saw Westwick starring alongside former Inbetweeners Joe Thomas and James Buckley.

Westwick was accused of rape by two women, with a third woman alleging sexual assault.
