The Cult Leader on American Horror Story Might Be Right Under Our Noses

19 September 2017 6:30 PM, PDT | POPSUGAR | See recent BuzzSugar news »

So far, American Horror Story's seventh season, Cult, has given us plenty of meaty theories to sink our speculating claws into. From simple questions about who some Ryan Murphy favorites will be playing (Lily Rabe as Sharon Tate would be spot-on, no?) to why we shouldn't trust Ivy (Alison Pill), there's a lot to unpack. Now it's time to add another whopper of a theory to the pile: who is the leader of the titular cult? For a while now, we've assumed the people in charge of the pack of roving killer clowns are Kai Anderson (Evan Peters, playing the town's Donald Trump-worshiping psychopath), his sister Winter (Billie Lourd), and Ivy. But what if they're not the architects of the deranged unpleasantness Ally (Sarah Paulson) is experiencing after all? Reddit user StripperGirlDelilah (we're assuming that's their real name as well) recently posed a very interesting take on season seven's big bad. »

American Horror Story” is notoriously mysterious, reaching new levels with Season 6, which didn’t even reveal its title, “Roanoke,” until its premiere.

But FX has given us a few more breadcrumbs to feast on leading up to the Season 7 premiere. The most obvious, its title, “Cult,” was revealed last month at San Diego Comic-Con. The show’s co-creator, Ryan Murphy, broke the news months ago that it would focus on the 2016 election. Here’s what else we know about this politically charged season, which premieres Sept. 5.

The Cast and Characters

“Ahs” fans, rejoice; the horror anthology is bringing back franchise favorites Evan Peters and Sarah Paulson as main characters, in addition to fellow vets Emma Roberts, Cheyenne Jackson, Frances Conroy, John Carroll Lynch, Adina Porter, and Mare Winningham. Stephen King's The Mist TV series review

Rebecca Lea Sep 1, 2017

The Mist heads to the smaller screen - but how does it fare?

Stephen King adaptations are going through somewhat of a boom at the moment. The Dark Tower hit cinemas earlier this month, Mr Mercedes is currently airing, and there’s the new adaptation of It on its way. With a lower profile, The Mist TV series arrived on Netflix last week, based on King’s 1980 novella of the same name.

King’s novella has already been adapted by Frank Darabont in 2007, notorious for both its bleak atmosphere and human characters more terrifying than the giant Lovecraftian monsters that lurk in the mist. It combined moments of satire, horror, and political commentary with ease by keeping things simple and character-based. The mystery of where the mist came from was never the important factor, used as »

Sarah Paulson Freaks Out About Donald Trump's Election in First American Horror Story: Cult Trailer

23 August 2017 12:41 PM, PDT | PEOPLE.com | See recent PEOPLE.com news »

American Horror Story is getting political.

In the trailer for Ahs: Cult, released Tuesday, Evan Peters’ character responds to Donald Trump’s 2016 election win with howls of excitement. Sarah Paulson’s Ally, however, has the opposite reaction, and her clown sightings and feelings of agoraphobia grow worse following Election Day.

Ally and her wife Ivy (Alison Pill) hire a babysitter (Billie Lourd), who makes matters worse by giving their son a figurine of Twisty the Clown. Twisty first appeared in American Horror Story: Freak Show three years ago, in which he committed multiple murders and held victims’ loved ones captive in an abandoned bus. »

First True Trailer For American Horror Story: Cult Unleashes The Clowns

22 August 2017 3:00 PM, PDT | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

Coulrophobia is rife in the current movie and TV landscape no thanks to the back-to-back release of It and FX’s seventh season of American Horror Story.

The former is poised to unleash Pennywise the Dancing Clown on September 8th, while Ahs will forge a Cult in exactly two weeks’ time. That means FX’s marketing machine, which has always been a source of cryptic teasers and misdirection, is beginning to flicker into life, and we now have Cult‘s first full trailer to coincide with the release of this season’s suitably creepy opening credits.

Doing good on its promise to center its story on the 2016 Presidential Election, the first true trailer for season 7 of American Horror Story acts as a not-so-subtle nod to Trump-era terror. In it, we’re introduced to Ally Mayfair-Richards (Sarah Paulson), who’s expressing her perfectly rational fear of clowns to a curious shrink (Cheyenne Jackson as Dr. »

22 August 2017 9:23 AM, PDT | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

We are, at the time of writing, exactly two weeks out from the return of American Horror Story. And we couldn’t be more excited.

Since its inception back in 2011, FX’s anthology series has been a consistent source of nightmare fuel as the likes of Ryan Murphy and Co. crafted complex, deeply unsettling stories set across Murder Houses, Carnivals, and grimy old Asylums. This year, though, it’s a little different.

For its 11-part seventh season, American Horror Story: Cult has mined inspiration from the 2016 Presidential Election, and with only a fortnight to go until the show’s return, FX has today lifted the lid on Cult‘s opening credits. Spoilers: They’re creepy as all hell. From up-close shots of the Stars and Stripes smeared in blood to a carousel drenched in fog, this is the Ahs viewers know and love, and following the documentary-esque Roanoke, it’s »

The Mist Season 1 Episode 9 Review – ‘The Waking Dream’

Martin Carr reviews the ninth episode of The Mist

There is only so often the mad bag lady with a Messiah complex can jettison her followers before things get bland. Only so many times the arse covering hypocrites can pass that buck onto an innocent before it gets mundane. We are reaching our limit out here amongst the viewing public, where running around in The Mist levelling false accusations and telling people a tissue of whoppers is wearing thin.

Atmosphere is still there in abundance alongside religious zealots, misguided mothers and isolated quarterbacks, but all we get now is a cycle of blame. Gus passes it to Alex, Adrian passes it to a deceased father, while everyone else slides it right along to Jay. Kevin gets hounded by a ghost from his past which amounts to minimal special effects and lots of atmospheric lighting and an ineffectual firefight. Mrs. Raven »
