[1] George Lucas' changes [2] to the Star Wars Blu-ray set have drawn some ire as of late, but let's be real -- these things are still gonna sell like hotcakes. While Lucas' alterations really will turn off some of his fans, it's probably a safe bet that many more will shell out for them anyway, even if they're grumbling as they do so. With that in mind, here are six ads for the Blu-ray that try to put you in a more positive state of mind about the updated releases. [via Geek Tyrant [3]] I actually quite like the first video, which is simple but effective -- just brief clips of some of the most thrilling moments from the saga, cut together in a very dynamic way. It's not enough to make me stop hating that Vader "Nooooo!" but it's nice to be reminded of why we love this series so much when »

There's a lot of mixed emotions right now for the upcoming Blu-ray release of George Lucas' the Star Wars saga. I've been waiting for these movie to come out on Blu-ray for a long time so I'm going to end up getting the original trilogy, regardless of the changes, even though I'm not happy with some of them. One of the main reasons I'm getting them though is for the special features, because these things are going to be packed full of awesome Star Wars goodies, including many deleted scenes, one of which is available now for you to watch below.
The deleted scene that was released is a little conversation between Han and Leia on the planet Hoth. It may look familiar, but the dialogue is completely different. Check out the deleted scene below and tell us what you think!

There’s not long to go now until The Star Wars Saga arrives on Blu-Ray. There have been some negative vibes about George Lucas’s latest attempts at tinkering with the movies with a CGI Yoda being added to The Phantom Menace and a few audio adjustments here and there; something about the word ‘Nooooooooo’ being added to a certain scene at the end of Return Of The Jedi. I’ve seen people writing that they aren’t going to buy the new BDs because of it, and that they have cancelled orders etc. While I too don’t agree with the changes, firstly, let’s face it, you will buy the thing and secondly, is one second at the end of one out of the six movies enough to warrant missing out on seeing the films in ultra high-definition and a slew of fantastic new bonus material? Thought not. »

Trevor Hogg profiles the career of legendary filmmaker George Lucas in the fifth of a six part feature... read parts one, two, three and four.
“One of the exercises I wanted to do after Jedi [1983] was to see if the companies I had built could survive not having Star Wars in their life,” stated American filmmaker George Lucas. “So we went fifteen years, and the companies not only survived but they prospered and we were now able to finance a $120 million movie.” The prequel trilogy chronicles the early Jedi Knight life of Obi-Wan Kenobi and the emergence of his pupil Anakin Skywalker as a lethal adversary. “That backstory was sketched out in a rudimentary fashion when I wrote the first trilogy, and there were certain things I knew even then. I knew for example, that there was a character known as Anakin Skywalker who grew up on a small planet, »

20th Century-Fox Home Entertainment took advantage of yesterday’s International Star Wars Day to formally announce the details surrounding this September’s Blu-ray debut of the original Star Wars trilogy along with the more recent trilogy. The six films are accompanied by three discs of extras totaling a stellar 40 hours of material – some new, some old.
Here’s the formal release with the details. Begin saving for this event, although let me caution you that the original versions of the trilogy won’t be here. George Lucas has previously indicated the film is in no shape for high definition conversion.
