It doesn't seem like fans will have much longer to wait before getting introduced to the new Geralt of Rivia.
Previously, it was announced that Henry Cavill would be departing from his starring role in The Witcher after its third season. It was also revealed that the series would continue on with its production by recasting the role of Geralt with Liam Hemsworth. Now, according to a new report from Redanian Intelligence, Hemsworth has been preparing to start filming on Season 4 of The Witcher in mid-April, and this includes doing screen tests and photoshoots in character as Geralt. The report also suggested that Netflix plans to release a first look in the near future, speculating that the unveiling will happen in "about a month."

Since developer CD Projekt Red's trilogy-closer The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt was released to critical acclaim, author Andrzej Sapkowski's franchise blossomed internationally, and Dark Horse's comic book material shows that it would excel in animation. With Netflix creating its own live-action Witcher universe, spin-off materials have experimented with animation, including the Nightmare of the Wolf movie and the upcoming Sirens of the Deep.
However, several of these exciting comic book series show potential for an entirely separate animated TV continuity. From direct tie-ins to events of the games like Curse of Crows to source material adaptations like The Lesser Evil, The Witcher universe would be a natural fit for TV animation.

Doug Cockle was surprised Netflix wanted his voice for Geralt of Rivia in The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep.
"I was not expecting to be asked to do that. I was fully expecting somebody else to be doing that because of the Netflix relationship," Cockle said in a December interview with IGN. The actor explained, "Because until I was asked to do the Witcher anime, I had no real association with Netflix at all, other than watching it. So when I got the call, 'Are you interested in voicing Geralt in the Netflix Witcher anime?' I was like, 'Yeah!'"

The Witcher author Andrzej Sapkowski considers Henry Cavill's voice iconic as Geralt in the same way that Viggo Mortensen perfectly embodies Aragorn in The Lord of the Rings trilogy.
Henry Cavill's Geralt in The Witcher was well-received by fans of the novel and video game series alike. The actor's co-stars also complimented his dedication to the role, faithfully portraying the character according to the novels and the original Polish folklore. However, reports of mounting tension behind the scenes between the actor and the showrunners were all but confirmed when Cavill announced he was leaving the series. The news came as a shock to fans, including The Witcher author Andrzej Sapkowski, who said he considered Cavill's take on the character superior to others in an interview with Beyond Pixels.

The Witcher author Andrzej Sapkowski has opened up about his involvement in the Netflix adaptation of his hit fantasy book series.
While attending the Vienna Comic-Con last week, Cerealkillerz asked Sapkowski if he had given Netflix any feedback regarding The Witcher series during his set visits. Despite being credited as a creative consultant for two episodes of The Witcher Season 1, the Polish writer admitted that he doesn’t really have a say in the show’s creative direction, revealing that the streamer has "never listened" to his ideas. "Well the set was tremendous, it was so wow, everything," Sapkowski said. "But no, maybe I gave them some ideas, but they never listened to me. They never listen to me, but it’s normal, 'Who’s this? In Projekt CD Red's "The Witcher" video game series, Geralt of Rivia (voiced by the brilliant Doug Cockle) sports a gravelly baritone, and he can be heard musing about the weather or grunting in disdain from time to time. While Geralt's personality is painstakingly fleshed out over the course of three lore-heavy games and three expansion packs, his voice factors majorly into the first-person character immersion. After all, the way Geralt speaks reflects most of his worldviews, where the monster slayer sways between subtle sarcasm and calm distaste, depending on the situation he is in. Geralt is also capable of being gentle, and it is endearing to listen to his conversations with Ciri, or his lighthearted banter with Dandelion, who brings out Geralt's softer side with ease.

The Witcher showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich defends their decision to recast Geralt of Rivia. It was a massive surprise when Cavill announced he would be leaving the show after its upcoming third season and replaced by Liam Hemsworth for season 4. Though an official explanation has yet to be provided, reports and speculation claim Cavill left the show due to it straying too far from its source material – Andrzej Sapkowski's books.

Henry Cavill's tenure as Geralt in Netflix's adaptation of The Witcher might have come to an end, but The Witcher video game franchise provides an avenue for the star to return. Cdpr's original trilogy of games about Geralt of Rivia came to a close with The Witcher 3, but the company has confirmed the launch of a new trilogy with a fourth game currently in the works. Voice acting and motion capture could offer a perfect way for Henry Cavill to stay involved with The Witcher, as long as he isn't Geralt this time.
The news that the next season of Netflix's The Witcher wouldn't feature Henry Cavill came as a shock to fans, many of whom have established their appreciation for the actor's dedication to the role. The enthusiasm that Cavill has for The Witcher, Geralt's history and character is obvious, which makes his departure sting for many Geralt enthusiasts.

As his swan song approaches, Geralt video game actor Doug Cockle shares his thoughts on why Henry Cavill is leaving The Witcher. Cavill's exit from the Netflix fantasy show has been the talk of the town for the past two months, namely as it aligned with his Superman return in Black Adam's post-credits, intended to see him back for far more projects in the DC Universe, including a potential Man of Steel 2. However, those plans were ultimately nixed by new DC Studios heads James Gunn and Peter Safran, leaving Cavill briefly without a path forward before partnering with Amazon to develop a Warhammer cinematic universe for Prime Video while The Witcher forges ahead with Liam Hemsworth taking over as Geralt of Rivia in season 4.

The Witcher season 4 will recast Geralt of Rivia with Liam Hemsworth following Henry Cavill’s exit from the Netflix show, meaning that The Witcher season 3 must give Cavill’s Geralt some sort of closure. While the news that Henry Cavill would not return for The Witcher season 4 broke a month and a half after filming for The Witcher season 3 wrapped, it can be assumed that the decision had already been made before that. Netflix’s The Witcher had already signed Liam Hemsworth for the role, suggesting that season 3 may have been developed with Cavill’s future departure in mind.

Netflix executive Peter Friedlander addresses Henry Cavill's departure from The Witcher. Cavill stars in Netflix's fantasy series as Geralt of Rivia, a magically enhanced monster hunter and titular witcher whose fate is intertwined with that of Princess Cirilla. Over two seasons of The Witcher, Cavill's performance has become beloved by critics and audiences alike, which is why it came as a complete shock when Cavill left the show after finishing season 3, with Liam Hemsworth taking over the lead role for season 4. The exact reasoining behind Cavill's departure isn't entirely clear, though many believe it is connected to his return as Superman in the Dcu.

Audiences aren't the only ones already mourning the recasting as Geralt video game actor Doug Cockle shares his thoughts on Henry Cavill's The Witcher exit. Cavill's work on the Netflix show marked the first major franchise the English actor attached himself to following his tenure as Superman in the DC Universe entering a limbo while the studio figured out a long-term plan for both the character and its franchise as a whole. After leading two seasons of the fantasy epic, and recently having wrapped filming on The Witcher season 3, it was announced that the show would continue without Cavill as Liam Hemsworth was brought on to pick up the role of Geralt, leaving many disappointed and confused by the decision.

The first London McM of 2022 has come to a close and if there was a selling point going in it would be that this is an McM that has returned to form in a post-lockdown world. Last October was cautiously treading water but this one is like opening the floodgates in comparison as the time of distancing and containing crowds has gone. So the question is: What are cons like now that they’re back in full swing?
Unfortunately, for me, this is a convention that I didn’t get to enjoy as much as I would have liked due to illness during day two and as anyone knows, Saturday is the most lively day of the convention. However, the two days that I did get to experience were incredibly energetic in a way that I hadn’t experienced last year. There was much more interaction than caution and that...

It’s been an exhaustingly long wait for developer CD Projekt Red’s newest game Cyberpunk 2077, but there are now only a few days standing between folks getting their hands on perhaps the most anticipated open world title of all time. Unfortunately for those who may have expected some fan service, though, the main character of the dev’s most well known property won’t be making a cameo.
If you’ve owned a console or gaming PC in the last few years, you’ve undoubtedly heard of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. While previous outings in CD Projekt Red’s series – which are all based on the novels of Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski – were well-received, this third entry elevated the property to new heights and made it into a global phenomenon, largely thanks to its beautiful open world, compelling storytelling and beloved main character Geralt of Rivia.

Henry Cavill’s performance as Geralt of Rivia in Netflix’s The Witcher has received much praise and acclaim, but before the Man of Steel took on the role of the solitary monster-hunter, Doug Cockle was the voice of the White Wolf.
While the fantasy saga has always enjoyed relative success across Europe with a devoted cult following, it wasn’t until Cdpr’s trilogy of video games came to prominence that the world really got to know Geralt of Rivia and the fictional realm in which his incredibly epic story takes place. Through this long and challenging journey from 2007’s The Witcher to the release of the universally acclaimed The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt in 2015, one person has been the ambassador of the White Wolf in the English-speaking world.

Toss a coin to the mod-makers that bring songs and stars from the series into the game...
Now that The Witcher series has debuted on Netflix, fans have been jumping back into CD Projekt Red's beloved Witcher games.
We already heard, late last year, that The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt has seen a sizeable resurgence in popularity since the Henry Cavill show came out. And, of course, it hasn't taken long for the Netflix/game mashup mods to start arriving.
In fact, modders have been splicing Cavill's face onto The Witcher 3 game's version of Geralt for a while now. A modder named Adnan4444 kicked things off back in August with an impressive post on Nexus Mods. Here's an example of their work...
Isn't it a beaut? Adnan has also tried to bring the show's Yennefer actress, Anya Chalotra, into The Witcher 3 game. Take a look at these renders.

Fans returning for second or even third viewings of Netflix’s The Witcher series have started dissecting every aspect of the adaptation and, in doing so, been left with a number of unanswered questions.
One particularly popular query pertains to Geralt of Rivia’s accent or, more specifically, where actor Henry Cavill ultimately drew his inspiration from. What with the character originally hailing from author Andrzej Sapkowski’s fantasy novels, the titular monster hunter’s vocal range has only ever been officially described rather than heard, leaving plenty of room for Cavill and showrunner Lauren Hissrich to interpret Geralt’s voice.
Without a doubt, Cavill took nods from Doug Cockle’s gravel-gargling interpretation in CD Projekt’s acclaimed The Witcher 3 for the tone, but what of the accent? Well, thanks to a recent interview, Cavill himself has revealed how the now-iconic voice came to be.

In hindsight, fans of Netflix’s hit The Witcher couldn’t have asked for a better casting choice than Henry Cavill to play Geralt of Rivia. Prior to the show’s debut earlier this month, however, the story was much different.
Perhaps it was a poor choice of preview images or simply an unconvincing wig, but something about Cavill’s interpretation of Andrzej Sapkowski’s character didn’t sit well with many fans. Indeed, a prevailing air of caution quickly rose around many of the actors chosen by showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich due to a perceived mismatch between not just Sapkowski’s original works, but CD Projekt’s critically acclaimed video game series. Those concerns, while fair, ultimately turned out to be utterly unnecessary, of course, as audiences have immediately fallen in love with not just Cavill’s Geralt, but Anya Chalotra and Freya Allan’s performances as Yennefer and Ciri,...

E3, the games industry’s largest, most anticipated event of the year, is just around the corner and as usual, pre-show rumors have begun circulating at a dizzying pace. Rocksteady’s reported Superman title, further adventures in Capcom’s Dead Rising series, even the potential appearance of Grand Theft Auto 6 – claims and suspicions are all over the internet, making the task of separating fact from fiction a genuine nightmare.
It’s absolutely likely that many of the above will turn out to be the latter, but one leak currently doing the rounds has a hefty amount of weight behind it. CD Projekt Red’s critically acclaimed RPG The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, it seems, is on course to see a release on Nintendo Switch, an announcement that’s looking increasingly likely to occur at next week’s Electronic Entertainment Expo.

Superman is headed to Velen. Yup, Henry Cavill’s officially been cast as the cat-eyed, monster-slaying, lady-killer Geralt of Rivia in The Witcher. Based on the bestselling books by Polish author Andrezj Sapkowski and influenced by the hugely successful video game series created by CD Projekt Red, Cavill will be playing a mutant monster hunter drifting from town to town dealing with slavering abominations, political machinations and manipulative (and generally very bosomy) Sorceresses.
Lauren Schmidt, who’s worked on several of Marvel’s shows for Netflix, is the writer, executive producer and showrunner of the series, with the directors including alumni from Game of Thrones, The Walking Dead, Outlander, Counterpart and Luke Cage. If you’re going to emulate a classic series like Diablo, you might as well get it right. So many action RPG’s have sought to recreate the same kind of balance between combat, advancement and loot collection of Blizzard’s revered classic, but few of them are able to match the formula. Victor Vran: Overkill Edition is the latest in this long line of pretenders to Diablo’s throne, and you know what, it puts on a bloody good show.
The game structure is so close to Diablo, it might as well have been copied and pasted into some kind of procedural generator. The central hero, Victor, differs from those in Diablo because he stands alone as the only choice, and instead of different characters to choose from, changing his armour will dictate the kind of build players will focus on. There are a number of light RPG features...

Blues and Bullets owes a lot to Telltale Games. The studio’s work on The Walking Dead revived mainstream interest in the adventure game genre, where viewers dictate how the story unfolds within a writer’s boundaries. Blues and Bullets’ inaugural episode, “The End of Peace,” is no exception. Players pick up the trail of real-life detective Eliot Ness, 20 years after leading the operation that jailed infamous Al Capone. Now retired and managing a humble diner, a meeting with an old acquaintance convinces Eliot to put aside his apron and reopen a case involving kidnapped children and a mysterious sect. While Blues and Bullets adopts the episodic and choice-driven format of its peers, even a love of mobster eras and the occult cannot forgive how poorly this pilot pans out.
