If you’re going to emulate a classic series like Diablo, you might as well get it right. So many action RPG’s have sought to recreate the same kind of balance between combat, advancement and loot collection of Blizzard’s revered classic, but few of them are able to match the formula. Victor Vran: Overkill Edition is the latest in this long line of pretenders to Diablo’s throne, and you know what, it puts on a bloody good show.
The game structure is so close to Diablo, it might as well have been copied and pasted into some kind of procedural generator. The central hero, Victor, differs from those in Diablo because he stands alone as the only choice, and instead of different characters to choose from, changing his armour will dictate the kind of build players will focus on. There are a number of light RPG features »

Victor Vran: Overkill Edition, from Bulgarian indie developers Haeminmont Games (Tropico) was originally released in 2015 for PC, has come to consoles. An action RPG that could be called a Diablo "clone", Victor Vran brings some interesting new ideas and a fun, easy to learn combat system that translates well to a controller. Set in a gothic fantasy world, part steampunk, part magic, players control Victor Vran, a demon hunter who is running from his past. Victor is voiced by veteran voice actor Doug Cockle, best known for Geralt in the Witcher series. In fact in many ways it is similar to that game series, in the overall mood of the world Victor inhabits. With two expansions, local and online co-op play, Victor Vran: Overkill Edition is a must buy for fans of the genre who missed this gem on PC.

Scott Watson reviews Victor Vran Overkill Edition…
It has been said that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. Then again, there’s the flipside too that familiarity breeds contempt. Victor Vran, by Haemimont Games (of Tropico fame), straddles that ever so thin line between both splendidly. An action RPG with a storyline steeped in Grimm’s fairy tales (the titular Vran is a demon hunter and could well be a relation to Van Helsing himself), the game leans heavily towards days past of Baldur’s Gate or more recently the likes of Blizzard’s Diablo and its ilk. It’s been readily available for the best part of two years on PC, but only now is it seeing the light of day on console, including both the Fractured Worlds and all new Motörhead Through The Ages Dlc.
An isometric action-rpg, Vran’s story and settings may be nothing new, »
