Spawn Reboot Will Be Dark, R-Rated and Scary Says Creator Todd McFarlane

17 September 2016 1:37 PM, PDT | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

Were you disappointed by the Spawn movie that hit theaters way back in 1997? So was creator Todd McFarlane. And he plans to rectify that with a new remake/reboot that will be nothing like the original movie. He's finished his screenplay, and now, appearing on the latest episode of AMC's Geeking Out, he has revealed exactly what this new big screen iteration of his iconic comic book and action figure line will be.

Earlier this year, McFarlane confirmed that he'd completed the script for a new Spawn movie, calling it 'massive'. Since that update, though, he's remained fairly quiet on the matter. At the time, he explained that he still needed to whittle the huge screenplay down by at least 45 pages, bringing it in at a still somewhat long 140 pages. If one page equals one minute of screen time, that still means this remake will clock in at over two hours. »

Now that you have had a few days to come down from the season finale of Gotham, you may have started wondering when you can own the home video release. Gotham season 2 episode 17 review: Into The Woods...

Ed's villainy comes to light as Oswald makes a meal of his step-family...

This review contains spoilers.

2.17 Into The Woods

On this week's Gotham, it was the best of times (for the first half of this episode), it was the worst of times (for the second half of this episode). I am being hyperbolic. All in all, this was a pretty great episode. Unfortunately, the momentum built up in the first half of the episode — and in the larger Ed becomes Riddler plot — was squandered in a too-fast, too-easy wrap-up. Oh well. We'll always have that scene of Ed electrocuting Jim in his apartment...

First, let's talk about what was great in this episode. Like many of the best episodes of Gotham (this one included), Into The Woods did a good job of bringing formerly disparate elements of the plot together by focusing on one urgent element. »

‘Gotham’ Sneak Peek: Penguin’s Past Comes Home to Roost

28 March 2016 10:00 AM, PDT | Variety - TV News | See recent Variety - TV News news »

Family matters to “Gotham’s” Oswald Cobblepot (Robin Lord Taylor), and after losing his beloved mother earlier this season, the seemingly reformed crime lord is more desperate for connection than ever. Thankfully, he may have found it again thanks to last week’s introduction of Elijah Van Dahl (Paul Reubens) — Penguin’s long-lost father.

Elijah welcomed his wayward son into the fold with open arms and no questions asked, but in episode 16 of Season 2, titled “Prisoners,” it appears that the rest of Penguin’s newfound family might not be so accommodating. In Variety‘s exclusive sneak peek from the March 28 episode, we see that Oswald’s stepmother Grace (Melinda Clarke) and his siblings Charles (Justin Mark) and Sasha (Kaley Ronayne) have made a startling discovery that raises some questions about their new house guest and his checkered past. Since everyone in Gotham City has their own agenda, it seems safe »

Gotham Recap: The Riddler Leaves His (Question) Mark, and More Big Twists

It was eventful week on Fox’s Gotham, as Edward laid out an intricate trap, Bruce went to bat for Selina and Penguin got a fresh start.

RelatedGotham Renewed for Season 3 at Fox

I suspect the key to already renewed Gotham’s future success will be to keep its rotation of supervillains fresh — and Oswald/Penguin, though winningly personified by Robin Lord Taylor, has been at risk of overexposure (just as Fish had been one year ago, perhaps sealing her own fate, temporarily). So, yes, while it was heartwarming to see Oswald be welcomed into a new, cushy home »

Fresh from being released by Hugo Strange, a “sane” Oswald (played by Robin Lord Taylor) gets a chilly reception from his “old friend” (Drew Powell) — and perhaps rightfully so, considering the stormy history they shared prior to Theo Galavan’s offing and Penguin getting remanded to Arkham for treatment.

Penguin Family Portrait Unveiled in 'Gotham' Season 2

16 March 2016 3:49 PM, PDT | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

The family that eats fish together, stays together. Or something like that. The Van Dahl brood is about to make a big impact on Gotham. And today, we have a look at the clan gathered together for an inviting family portrait. One that is perfect for hanging over any fireplace mantle.

Gotham Season 2 is notorious for having killed off Oswald Cobblepot's mother, Gertrude Kapelput. Oswald watched as she was dispatched by order of Theo Galavan. Ever since, poor Cobblepot has been without family. But that all changes next week, in the all-new episode Mad Grey Dawn. That's when we'll finally meet Oswald's father, Elijah Van Dahl, played by Paul Reubens.

It's been two months since we got our first look at ol' Elijah. Now, we see him here standing alongside his long-lost son, welcoming him into the Van Dahl family. But will this be a perfect union, as the portrait promises? »
