Clark Gregg Answers "What Makes The Deadly Threat In The Avengers Different From What We've Previously Seen?"

22 December 2011 3:08 AM, PST | ComicBookMovie.com | See recent ComicBookMovie news »

Speaking to the UK magazine SFX, actor Clark Gregg speaks out on his function in The Avengers, the unparalleled threat the teams faces and the relationship between Nick Fury and Coulson. Source: SFX Magazine On how Agent Coulson's role in The Avengers compares to his role in the previous films: Clark Gregg:" I think he's different in the way everyone is different in The Avengers, in that the whole cast is building together the concept of a team. When you look at the team it's made out of rock stars, divas, and giant muscles with superpowers so somebody has the job backstage at Lollapalooza to make them all play in the same concert and super band - and that's what Agent Coulson does." What makes the deadly threat in The Avengers different from what we've previously seen: Gregg:"Well, you can imagine the kind of threat that would cause Nick Fury, »

New Batch of Avengers Character Posters

20 December 2011 6:44 PM, PST | Beyond Hollywood | See recent Beyond Hollywood news »

Marvel has released new character posters for Joss Whedon’s “The Avengers”. Okay, so they aren’t really new, they’re the individual versions of those group banners we posted not all that long ago. Check them out below if you have the time. And really, whatcha got to lose? “The Avengers” stars Tom Hiddleston, Chris Evans, Samuel L. Jackson, Chris Hemsworth, Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Mark Ruffalo, Clark Gregg, Cobie Smulders, and Stellan Skarsgard. The film finds Marvel’s superheroes, with the assistance of super spy agency Shield, teaming up to battle a threat that threatens the world. I mean, what other kind of reason would Captain America, Thor, Iron Man, The Hulk, Black Widow, and Hawkeye would have to team up if not to save the world? Exactly. Joss Whedon's The Avengers Might Feature a Vampire!

20 December 2011 5:00 PM, PST | GeekTyrant | See recent GeekTyrant news »

It looks like Joss Whedon’s The Avengers just might end up featuring a vampire! The highly-anticipated film is currently in post production, and the full credits have been released on IMDb. Nuke The Fridge noticed the inclusion of a vampire among the cast, which makes us wonder how a vampire fits into the story? Could Whedon be giving an amusing nod to Buffy the Vampire Slayer?

There has been some speculation that the vampire could actually be Marvel’s “The Living Vampire”, the anti-hero/villain Morbius. If this is true, does that mean that Morbius will be a ally or an adversary? Since the character will be showing up in the end credits, does that mean the character will appear in the likely sequel?

The vamp will be played by actor/stuntman J.J. Perry. He has worked with Whedon on Angel, Serenity, and Firefly.  I am interested in seeing this movie even more now. »

Two Fresh Avengers Images

Following up on that groovy new “Avengers” German trailer that popped up earlier in the day, here are two more images from Joss Whedon’s epic superhero team-up movie. Looks like the Chris’s are hard at work fighting evil in that first pic. The Iron Man shot is a tad generic. Could be all CG or practical or my grandmother in that Iron Man costume. The plot finds the superheroes teaming up with those normal folks from Shield to battle the fiendish Loki with the fate of the world in the balance. Or as Iron Man calls it, Monday. "The Avengers" assemble in newly released banners

15 December 2011 9:03 PM, PST | ifc.com | See recent IFC news »

With the release of Joss Whedon's "The Avengers" just a little over four months away, you can expect the drumbeat of super hero fanaticism to grow as the film nears its premiere. And who are we to not jump on the bandwagon?

With that in mind, Marvel has released two new banners to promote their upcoming blockbuster featuring the first team-up of their non-mutant super-heroes. While some of the images used in the banner will look familiar from the previously released round of promotional images, these do feature new poses for Robert Downey Jr.'s Iron Man and Scarlett Johansson's Black Widow and none of the Avengers are obscured with the insignia as an overlay.

One interesting thing to note is the arrangement of the eight cast members between the two banners. Marvel has split Cap, Thor, Iron Man and Bruce Banner (seemingly transforming in to the Hulk) in to one group, »

The Avengers Assemble in Two New Character Banners

One of these days, using the word “assemble” in the headline of an “Avengers” post is going to become tedious and annoying (I suspect I still have, oh, maybe 2-3 more headlines left), but until then, check out two swanky banner posters for the upcoming Joss Whedon superhero team-up. Twitter Buzz: Thor 2

7 December 2011 3:36 AM, PST | ComicBookMovie.com | See recent ComicBookMovie news »

I think it's safe to say that no one really saw this coming. Just recently, I interviewed actor Clark Gregg (Agent Coulson) and he stated he was looking forward to meeting with Patty Jenkins to "presumably" begin discussing his role in Thor 2. I imagine he and a lot of the other cast members were caught off guard as were many of the fans. There's no quicker place to get the latest news and headlines than Twitter and within moments of the announcement from Deadline thoughts were flying fast and furiously about whether Marvel has dodged a bullet or made a huge mistake. Also, a lot of thoughts were put out there about who Marvel should turn to now following Jenkins departure. With those outside of the fan community sounding off on the news and who they'd like to see take up directorial responsibilities on Thor »

Exclusive: Actor Clark Gregg On Whether Comic Book Fans Will Recognize The Members Of Loki's Army

2 December 2011 1:00 PM, PST | ComicBookMovie.com | See recent ComicBookMovie news »

Interview Conducted By: Mark Julian I recently spoke with the multi-talented Clark Gregg who took time out of his busy schedule starring in Ethan Coen's (No Country For Old Men) Off-Broadway play, Happy Hour to speak to Cbm. We covered a wide-range of topics but I thought I'd share this brief excerpt from our chat first, as it showcases the dry, razor-sharp humor that Clark and his character, Agent Coulson are known for. Many comic books fans are extremely curious about who will be part of Loki's army in the Avengers. As previously stated by Loki himself, Tom Hiddleston, "If Loki was defeated by his brother in Thor, how does he take on the Avengers team, obviously he has help." Obviously, Loki won't be enlisting just anyone to help him take down the likes of Thor Odinson, Captain America, Hulk, Iron Man and S.H.I.E.L.D. He's going to »

The 10 Best Trailers of 2011

30 November 2011 9:00 AM, PST | NextMovie | See recent NextMovie news »

It's not easy making a great movie, but you know what's even harder? Making a great trailer. After all, in a trailer you have just two short minutes to make your movie look cool. And since it's going to be showing right smack in the middle of a bunch of other trailers -- for an audience that probably just wants the feature to start -- it has to have enough style and punch to stand out from the pack, grab your attention and keep it.

Frankly, most trailers fail. Which is why we want to take a moment to celebrate those trailers that got it right and got our blood pumping this year. Of course, when you have a great trailer it can be hard to live up to the hype, so it's an ironic fact that some of these movies weren't nearly as good as the trailers themselves. But for two glorious minutes, »

Fear Not, True Believers! Paul Bettany to Return as the Voice of Jarvis In The Avengers

29 November 2011 8:00 AM, PST | ScifiMafia | See recent ScifiMafia news »

We had to wait until the 11th hour to get confirmation that actor Paul Bettany (Blood) was returning to voice Tony Stark’s (Robert Downey Jr.) personal Artificial Intelligence computer program called J.A.R.V.I.S. (an acronym for “Just A Rather Very Intelligent System”) in Iron Man 2, and it seems The Avengers will be no different.

Bettany recently told lfpress that he has now been hired for the part:

“This is pretty much the way it always goes, I never get the call until literally about a month or two before the movie comes out, and then they bring me in once everything else is done. I’m literally the last person hired. It’s exactly like voicing animation, except I don’t even have to sync to anything. It’s the easiest gig in the world.”

In a recent interview with Yahoo!, director Joss Whedon spoke a bit about the difference between working with and ensemble cast he created and the ensemble cast of veteran actors on The Avengers:

“Well, in some ways it’s the same, because if you are ever working with a group you have created from ground-up, they feel they have been created already and they exist and the actors have already researched the roles. So it has a great similarity to working on anything, like a show you run.
