Blu-ray Review: Land Of The Dead Collector’s Edition

  • DailyDead
For some horror fans, the late, great George A. Romero is considered the George Lucas of horror: he created a trilogy of classic films that changed the face of the genre forever, then years later returned with a second trilogy that was less well-received. But whereas Lucas’ second set of Star Wars films close off his universe, answering unasked questions and making his world feel smaller by tying every corner of it together, Romero’s 2000s trilogy expands his living dead world further and brings the series into a new millennium. They don’t diminish the legacy of his first three zombie movies. If anything, they make it richer.

Land of the Dead, new to Collector's Edition Blu-ray courtesy of Scream Factory (a disc was previously available from Universal), marks Romero’s return to the zombie genre he created after a 20-year absence and is his first (and only) made for a major studio.

Doug Bradley Returns as Pinhead for First Time in a Decade

Doug Bradley Returns as Pinhead for First Time in a Decade
Update: We have been informed that while Doug Bradley's Pinhead Experience did start the makeup process with Tom Savini's school, they were later taken off the project. Savini has little to do with the project now and serves as a consultant at this point. Tolin FX in Pittsburgh and their artist Kyle Roberts have been solely responsible for the new sculpt and makeup. Tom was introduced to the team at Tolin FX, where everyone is getting along famously. While Tom had been given credit for coordinating this project, it has been All Doug.

Original Story: Horror icon Doug Bradley and special effects legend Tom Savini have teamed up to bring Hellraiser legend Pinhead back to "life" for a special event in Arizona. The union was announced early this year, but now pictures of Bradley are starting to get posted on social media and excitement is building because number one,

Ten truly memorable zombies

Are zombies really that memorable? When you think about it, today’s undead munchers are not exactly an interesting crowd since all they do between meals is wander around in a trance. The pre Romero vegetarians are even worse, as they spend most of their time under the thumb of a zombie master, although on the odd occasion they do rebel against their tyrannical leader.

Zombie movies are a dime a dozen these days, and apart from a few moderately successful variations, they haven’t progressed beyond the flesh-eating antics of Night of the Living Dead (1968). But on the odd occasion a couple of zombies stand out from the faceless crowd of walking corpses, and what some these ghouls lack in personality, they make up for in other ways.

So here’s a list of ten memorable zombies that stood out for me, as an avid horror movie fan.

Played by actor Eugene Clark in the 2005 film, the river-crossing zombie leader will be appearing at multiple Halloween parties this season, as he’s being immortalized in impressively detailed mask form for the first time. Fiddler’s Green residents better start running.

On telly tonight, it's the battle of the footballing supervillains those unfeasibly talented, diving whingers we love to hate: Real Madrid's Cristiano Ronaldo v Bayern Munich's Arjen Robben.

Review: Jason Mraz, Heart soar at Country Music Hall of Fame benefit

Review: Jason Mraz, Heart soar at Country Music Hall of Fame benefit
Los Angeles—Jason Mraz and Heart may not be the first names that you think of when you think of country music (or the last), but the two acts fit in perfectly at Tuesday night’s (5) All for the Hall benefit for Nashville's Country Music Hall of Fame. They joined Vince Gill and Emmylou Harris in an old-fashioned guitar pull at Club Nokia. For the uninitiated, guitar pulls feature artists in a circle or line as they perform round-robin style accompanied only with a guitar. It marked the first time the event had been held in Los Angeles in three years and to tie in with Hollywood, the event was hosted by Rita Wilson, who declared herself a country music convert especially since she has been spending time in Nashville writing with some top-tier songwriters. Southern Californian Mraz proved to be the crowd favorite, especially after he performed hits, “I
