It’s been a long and winding road for the characters of Dragon Ball Z, but this is the final season. Dragon Ball Z is a show that I first approached with resistance, unwilling to accept that 5+ hour long fights could be anything but repetitive and dull. But it has gradually become more hospitable, if only for the fact that the show is demonstrably addictive. Set aside the fact that reviewing anime is one of the things I do for the site, this show would have sunk its claws into me and refused to let go no matter what. This final season »

Picking up where Season 7 left off, Season 8 really should begin to crack under the pressure of continuing a fairly simplistic series for so long. In actual fact, this is one of the best seasons the show has to offer thanks to some amazing character development, interesting and meaningful fight sequences, and even sections of heartfelt emotion. It all begins with the regular gang of heroes travelling to take on the evil wizard Babidi, son of Bibidi, and yes there is also a Buu. Babidi wishes to awaken the ultimate fighter, Buu, in order to take over the word.

Dragon Ball Season 7 is one of those points in a long running anime that can be seen as an easy ‘jumping-in’ point. Whereas the last two seasons required lengthy mythology and background knowledge to receive much of the enjoyment, this season will welcome newcomers and reward dedicated fans alike. Season 6 was an incredibly long tournament based season, with much of the action focused around a single fight. Season 7 has a lot of tournaments to get through too, but it also gives a wide range of fights and competitors, as well as supplying us with some heartfelt character moments and exciting new storylines and characters. »

Dragon Ball Z Season 5 really grabbed my attention in terms of the complicated mythology it had to offer, as well as a wide range of interesting characters. By leaving that Season on a cliffhanger, I eagerly awaited a second bout with the long running anime. At the end of Season 5 the alien/android Cell had reached his final form, and had challenged the world’s fighters to a fighting tournament which would dictate the fate of our planet.

That’s right I’m afraid, this is a tournament based season, which means it’s lacking on plot but high on action, a little too high to be honest. »

So many anime, so little time. With all the Bleach, Naruto, Pokemon, and other great series to be watching a few, no matter how important or popular, are bound to fall by the wayside. For me, that series is Dragon Ball and its sequel Dragon Ball Z. My only exposure to the world of Dragon Ball are a few memes circling the net and the film Dragonball Evolution, which I’m sure is a grand representation of what to expect? No? Fine, I guess I’ll give the series a go.

But can someone really jump into the series five seasons in? This isn’t like House or some other procedural show. The world of Dragon Ball, »
