First Images From Donnie Yen Starring Historical Epic The Lost Bladesman

Donnie Yen's no dummy. Now in the latter half of his forties and in higher demand than he has ever been in, Yen knows that he has only four or five peak years left in him and is packing as many projects into that time as he possibly can.

Just having wrapped up production is The Lost Bladesman, a historical epic from directors Felix Chong and Alan Mak in which Yen plays famous warrior Guan Yu. though Guan is a real figure all involved are making sure to point out that this is a fictitious story. The first images from the film have arrived online via Sina and while there's no Yen to be seen in these the images themselves are very impressive. Check them in the gallery below.

First Look at Donnie Yen as General Guan Yun Chang

Following a steady flow of blockbuster hits with Ip Man as his biggest breakthrough thus far, Donnie Yen has quickly risen to become the hottest commodity in China's film industry while being hail as the current undisputed onscreen king of Kung Fu by audience and critics alike.  Naturally, the highly demanded actor/action director has receive enough offers for multiple projects to keep him busy til 2012.  Whats next on his plate is the title role of Guan Yun Chang (关云长), the legendary general from the Three Kingdoms era and he will also be responsible for the action direction. Sharing the directorial duties is Felix Chong and Alan Mak and the cast line-up include Jiang Wen (Warriors of Heaven and Earth) as rival warlord Cao Cao and Chin Siu-Ho (Fist of Legend).  The production has just begun and the sneaky folks at Sina was there on-set to take some spy shots »

Media Asia preview 2010 Line-up - Legend Of The Fist: The Return Of Chen Zhen, Reign Of Assassins and more

Hong Kong film studios Media Asia recently held a presentation ceremony at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre to unveiled its films line-up for 2010, showcasing a diverse range of genres and boasting some of the biggest film talents in Asia. 

The action bonanzas in Media Asia's line-up include Dante Lam's cop flick Fire of Conscience, starring Leon Lai and Richie Jen; Andrew Lau's martial arts epic Legend of the Fist: the Return of Chen Zhen, starring Donnie Yen and Shu Qi; Felix Chong's action comedy Once a Gangster, starring Ekin Cheng and Jordan Chan; and Su Chao-pin's sword fighting Reign of Assassins (produced by John Woo), starring Michelle Yeoh and Jung Woo-sung.

Teddy Chan’s Bodyguards and Assassins, the story of a gang of martial-art fighters trying to protect early 1900s Chinese revolutionary leader Sun Yat-sun during a visit to Hong Kong, garnered a whopping 19 nominations — a record — for the 2010 Hong Kong Film Awards.
