Nicolas Cage Attempts British Accent in Outcast Trailer; Hayden Christensen Co-Stars

21 August 2014 7:37 AM, PDT | Collider.com | See recent Collider.com news »

In Nicolas Cage's long, glorious, and bizarre filmography, Outcast could be more than a minor curiosity.  The directorial debut of Nick Powell (stunt coordinator on Resident Evil: Retribution), Outcast takes place during the Crusades, and Cage plays Gallain, a rebellious outlaw who teams up with Arken (Hayden Christensen, who, to my surprise, is still in the acting business), a young man looking for redemption by protecting the rightful heir to the Chinese throne.  If you needed more proof of China's growing power in the global film market, look to Outcast.  First Cage; tomorrow: The World.  But in the meantime, they only have Cage, or, more specifically, Cage trying to do a British accent, which is about as wonderful as you'd expect. Hit the jump to check out the Outcast trailer.  The film will be released on February 27, 2015, and also stars Yifei Liu, Fernando Chien, Andy On, and Byron Lawson. »

Producer Jeremy Bolt Announces Fall 2014 Release for Outcast Starring Nicolas Cage; Already Planning Outcast 2

16 April 2014 8:16 PM, PDT | Collider.com | See recent Collider.com news »

There is just one article in the Collider archives on Outcast.  The casting announcement revealed Nicolas Cage and Hayden Christensen play two 12th century European crusaders who travel to China to find redemption.  Producer Jeremy Bolt (Pompeii) has bigger plans for the feature than we anticipated.  You see, Outcast is a co-production with China's Yunnan Film Group, and China is an increasingly important international market.  Bolt is confident enough in the property to promise Outcast 2: "Outcast has been acclaimed by buyers, and we are determined to make a sequel."  Backing up, Bolt also announced the Outcast release schedule [via Variety]: “We are planning a worldwide release, including the Us and China, in September and October this year." Outcast is the directorial debut of stunt coordinator Nick Powell (Resident Evil: Retribution).  It sounds like the perfect Nicolas Cage vehicle at this stage in his career.  Yifei Liu, Fernando Chien, Andy On, »
