Big Changes Coming To 'So You Think You Can Dance'

19 May 2012 10:41 AM, PDT | Huffington Post | See recent Huffington Post news »

When "So You Think You Can Dance" returns to Fox on May 24 (at 8 p.m. Est), the popular competition series will look wildly different than seasons past.

"We're one show now, so we've got an action-packed show," producer Nigel Lythgoe told Et at the Fox upfronts this week. Fox ended the "So You Think You can Dance" results-show broadcast, meaning many changes needed to be made before the new season.

"This year we're doing an entirely new thing that we should have done years ago," Lythgoe said enthusiastically. "We're going to have a male winner and a female winner. With changing it around, to making it just one show, we sort of realized, 'Hey, why don't we do this?' We wanted to do it, now we have the opportunity to do so."

As Lythgoe told TVLine.com, “Girls dance totally differently than guys."

Kristin Chenoweth's Gcb Show Cancelled

14 May 2012 6:36 PM, PDT | WENN | See recent WENN news »

Kristin Chenoweth's controversial TV comedy Gcb has been axed.

The actress/singer's co-star Mark Delkin broke the news to fans via Twitter.com on Monday, revealing he was "stunned" by the news.

The actor wrote, "Wow. I feel stunned & sad. We have had an amazing ride and you, the Gcb fans... have been just incredible. Thank You all for your beautiful love and loyalty."

Chenoweth played a former school outcast-turned-social queen in the sitcom Gcb, which was originally called Good Christian B**ches before TV bosses decided on a tamer title.

Plotlines about feuding church-going Texan women have drawn criticism, but Chenoweth maintained the series was actually a "love letter to Dallas".

After the first wave of criticism was aimed at the show following its launch in March, Chenoweth told The Hollywood Reporter, "I think people should give it a chance. You just can't judge a book by its cover. I certainly wouldn't do anything that would make fun of my own faith... I think it's really funny. I remember growing up, it was always the same woman who got the solos in the church choir. And there's always the woman at the bake sale or the church dinner who wanted to outcook everyone. The thing is, just because you're a Christian doesn't mean you're perfect." »

Gcb: Cancelled; No Season Two for ABC Show

12 May 2012 10:25 PM, PDT | TVSeriesFinale.com | See recent TVSeriesFinale news »

Did Carlene finally take down Amanda? We'll never know. ABC has cancelled Gcb after one short season of 10 episodes. There won't be a "second coming" or a second season for this show.

Based on the novel Good Christian Bitches, Gcb follows a former high school mean girl (Leslie Bibb), now a single mom and widow, who returns home to Texas and tries to make amends with the women that she used to torment. The show's ensemble cast also includes Lauran Irion, Colton Shires, Annie Potts, Kristin Chenoweth, David James Elliott, Jennifer Aspen, Brad Beyer, Miriam Shor, Mark Deklin, and Marisol Nichols.

This dramedy debuted to a 2.2 rating in the 18-49 demograpic with 7.56 million viewers. That wasn't a great showing but it was far better than what ABC had been getting with Pan Am earlier in the season.

ABC Renews 'Private Practice' & 'Don't Trust The B,' Cancels 'Gcb'

Bubble shows are called that because things can really go either way -- for "Scandal," it meant a Season 2 renewal today, but for "Gcb" and a handful of others, it means cancellation.

ABC has officially canceled "Gcb," its Texas-centric freshman dramedy starring Annie Potts, Kristin Chenoweth and Leslie Bibb, along with three other dramas that were on major life support.

If you were holding out hope for lofty period-spy drama "Pan Am" or the "Paranormal Activity"-esque thriller "The River," hope is lost -- both shows join Ashley Judd's globe-trotting "Missing" (which was set up to be a one-season venture initially anyway) on the chopping block.

But ABC has saved a few fan-favorite shows: Shonda Rhimes' other ABC series "Private Practice" -- which moved from the post-"Grey's Anatomy" timeslot to Tuesdays when "Scandal" premiered -- will get a sixth season; Dana Delany's medical examiner drama "Body of Proof »
