It's amazing how much work it takes to put together, 15 years of old Video tapes with tons of footage and to put it together with such finest. Comedian Peter Chen had been performing for different charity shows, senior's centers, hospitals, Nursing Homes, Halfway Houses, Community Service Shows, as well as the world famous Comedy Store, the Laugh Factory & the Improv. Using humor where it is most needed and helped brighten the lives and boosted the spirits of many hospitalized veterans. As a standup been on over 1,000's performances and Charity Comedy Shows since 1986. In the real world of show business Standup Comedian faces a lot of obstacles and hardship. It is no doubt much more difficult for minorities to make it. Minorities like women & Asians. This documentary follows the comedy career of an Asian American Comedian name Peter Chen, who started 23 years ago; back in 1986. We learn about the process, the progress of the Standup work, the pros and cons of the Comedy Business, the hardship and the passion, over coming the obstacles and the limitations. It is a documentary of a lot of interviews with many other comedians with many many different standup comedy shows performed from 1986 thru 2000, all edited together into one. Absolutely American: A Comedy Heated Rally with Action -- True love prevails when we set aside our prejudice A zany, whimsical, lighthearted Chinese American Peter, dealing with his own problems encounters discrimination, where cultures clash with Nancy's Caucasian American family and with loving hearts hiding an embarrassing secret, discovers his American roots, reveals his ancestor's buried American History, wins with nonviolence against racial bigotry and surly antagonists and finds love on the way.Peter and Nancy falling in love provides a whimsical romantic scene with just a flash of nudity seen from behind only. (PG-13) The Chinese love of gambling, as part of the families’ daily life, draws in a bewitching belly dancer. A cameo by a catholic priest provides a balance between Buddha and Zen philosophies. There’s some very light Martial Arts but no real violence. A coming of age story, a Woody Allen/Jackie Chan like, out of water character, who falls in love with a girl, but a girl not of his culture. The ensuing problems result in Peter and his buddies facing discrimination and heartache but Peter with the help of his buddies end up finding his true love. A priest, a Native American and the young hero's cronies turn into surprising allies in this coming-of-age story. Who would dream that Chinese immigrants could be so absolutely American? Absolutely American acceptance friendship mix cultures Asian Mexican Caucasian stereotype discrimination Chinese American with romance Absolutely American a heated rally an action comedy, a feature film called 'Absolutely American' People in general stereotype and discriminate against each other. It’s about adjusting to discriminations, resolving violence with non-violence, and finding love on the way. Everybody has the same need for ‘Love’. Nothing can be solved by violence. This ‘Film’ has a funny and smart way of uniquely showing audience that nobody can win with violence and with war, only with ‘Love’ and ‘Peace.'
