What a great time to be a grandparent (or so I’m told). There are now plenty of books, games, clothing, and video to encourage girls to be strong and independent. DC Comics offers up their Super Hero Girls line and this week they have released their second animated feature, DC Super Hero Girls: Intergalactic Games, a 77-minute romp.
Writer Shea Fontana improves on the first offering with a story set at the Intergalactic Games where Earth’s powered women take on the vile challengers from Korugar Academy. To prepare for the competition Academy teacher Doc Magnus (Phil Lamarr) is building battlebots and supervising Batgirl (Mae Whitman) and Bumblebee (Teala Dunn) as they build their own. Principal Waller (Yvette Nicole Brown) is not amused nor is she happy that Magnus’ bots seem to have free will but were not programmed with any morality, a theme that plays out across the 77-minute fast-paced story. »

Shaun Munro reviews Injustice 2…
The fighting game is a genre forever at battle with itself; appeal too desperately to the casual crowd and the hardcore lot will deem it “dumbed down”, but targeting the competitive scene too aggressively risks losing mainstream appeal (looking at you, Street Fighter V).
Injustice 2, then, is one of the genre’s best arguments in years that fighting games should and indeed can appeal to frantic button-bashers and technical savants alike. With a plump platter of content on offer and terrific production values, this is an ambitious step up from 2013’s acclaimed original, Injustice: Gods Among Us.
Like all good sequels, NetherRealm Studios’ second DC-themed beat ’em up is a bigger beast that builds on that initial success, beefing up the presentation, making movement marginally faster, upping the ludicrousness of the environmental attacks and Super Moves, and crucially allowing players to burn their meter in order to get an offensive advantage. »

Cartoon Network has announced that The Lego Movie character Unikitty is to receive her very own animated series from Warner Bros. Animation, which will follow Unikitty and her friends “into a world full of adventure, excitement and dance parties.”
As ruler of the kingdom, Unikitty has busy days full of royal responsibilities. Unikitty is most interested in making sure everyone is happy and ridding the kingdom of negativity, but don’t misunderstand her optimism – she is one kitty not to be crossed. While she may be full of boundless energy and creativity, Unikitty is a force to be reckoned with if anyone gets in the way of spreading her positive vibes, especially if anyone makes her little brother and best friend, Puppycorn, sad. Also living in the castle are Dr. Fox, the resident scientist, and Unikitty’s trusty bodyguard, Hawkodile. Through it all, Unikitty and her friends make sure that »

She gives voice to arguably the most famous pony on television right now, but Tara Strong (a.k.a. Twilight Sparkle from Discovery Family’s My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic) is quick to speak up for another species who needs a voice right now.
With Easter quickly approaching, the actress — who has two rescue bunnies in her brood of pets — is vocal about the upsetting trend of buying rabbits around the holiday, and, as it often happens, discarding them soon after.
“This shelter that I got from had them every single year,” Strong tells People of her bunnies Stasha and Potato. »

Twilight Sparkle, Applejack, Rainbow Dash, Pinkie Pie, Fluttershy and Rarity – six brilliant residents of Ponyville who come together for a big, big announcement in today’s first teaser for My Little Pony: The Movie.
Arriving by way of Lionsgate, the animated pic is packed to the rafters with top-tier Hollywood talent, with Mary Poppins Returns star Emily Blunt, Kristin Chenoweth, Liev Schreiber, Michael Peña (Ant-Man), Sia, Taye Diggs, Uzo Aduba, and Zoe Saldana poised to take point in the voice booth. As if that wasn’t exciting enough, there’s also word that Sia, the award-winning artist best known for “Elastic Heart” and “Chandelier,” has penned an original song for Jayson Thiessen’s picture, and we all know how lucrative these properties can be following the success of Paramount’s Trolls and Justin Timberlake’s “Can’t Stop The Feeling” last year.

Before there was the DC Extended Universe in live-action cinema, there was the DC Animated Universe – a notable multimedia collection of animated tales based on DC Comics properties. It was the DC Animated Universe that gave birth to the now iconic, fan favourite character, Harley Quinn – who was introduced in Batman: The Animated Series in 1992. Since 2014, DC has been releasing original animated movies that have grown in profile but, now that Harley Quinn is set for a co-lead role in the upcoming Batman And Harley Quinn, newly released casting details may be surprising to some fans.
There’s no director confirmed just yet, but Batman: The Animated Series co-creator Bruce Timm is on board as executive producer. This being the case, the most striking thing to note about Batman And Harley Quinn is the fact that the style seen in early images from the film is clearly reminiscent of that »

Holy déjà vu, Batman! Only last week I was writing about the announcement that a new member of the Bat-family has been given their own movie among Warner Bros’ already-jam-packed DC Extended Universe slate. Dick Grayson, aka Nightwing, was the chap under discussion then.
Last week, on top of that, the news broke that Joss Whedon is writing, directing and producing a Batgirl movie as part of the Dceu. Warners is clearly serious about expanding out from Ben Affleck’s Batman to tell other stories about cowl-loving caped crusaders.
Here’s everything you need to know about Batgirl, mixed with some possibly-useless fan speculation about casting, villains and more...

So apparently there's going to be a new My Little Pony movie in the works, based on the popular Hasbro toys (and, more specifically, the most recent animated incarnation). This will be the third My Little Pony feature film, following the original 1986 version, and the weird DeviantArt come to life My Little Pony: Equestria Girls.
