Another New Trailer for 'Power Rangers' Movie Gives Us More of Rita

"Five little Rangers - how cute." Lionsgate has unveiled another brand new 60-second trailer for the Power Rangers movie, directed by Dean Israelite, in theaters in March - about a month from now. The full trailer hit just last month, but this new trailer has even more footage - including a few scenes with Rita Repulsa gearing up to take on the cute little Power Rangers. The cast is lead by: Naomi Scott as The Pink Ranger, Becky G. as The Yellow Ranger, Ludi Lin as The Black Ranger, Rj Cyler as The Blue Ranger, and Dacre Montgomery as The Red Ranger. Also starring Bryan Cranston as Zordon, Bill Hader as the voice of Alpha 5, Elizabeth Banks as Rita Repulsa, as well as David Denman, Sarah Grey, Emily Maddison, and Caroline Cave. I'm not sure if this will be any good in the end, but it does look like it'll be fun to see.

M. Night Shyamalan's Split Wins the Box Office 2 Weeks in a Row

M. Night Shyamalan's Split Wins the Box Office 2 Weeks in a Row
While January doesn't often produce huge box office hits, fans have come out in full force for Oscar-nominated films like Hidden Figures and La La Land, which both continue to fare well with solid box office numbers throughout the month. Last weekend, M. Night Shyamalan's Split over-performed with an impressive box office win with $40 million, and it was certainly expected to repeat, even with three new releases hitting theaters. Joining the box office fray this weekend is Sony's Resident Evil: The Final Chapter, Universal's A Dog's Purpose and The Weinstein Company's Gold. The race was expected to be much closer, but Split took advantage of a minimal second weekend drop to easily win with $26.2 million

The estimates from Box Office Mojo reveal that Split actually expanded into 161 more theaters for a total of 3,199, which may have helped minimize the traditional second weekend drop. The M. Night Shyamalan thriller only dropped 34.3% in its second weekend,

Can Resident Evil 6 Take Down Split at the Box Office?
The month of January doesn't often usher in huge box office grosses, but horror fans came out in droves to see M. Night Shyamalan's Split, which took in just over $40 million last weekend. This thriller will have its work cut out for it this weekend, going up against three new releases, Sony's Resident Evil: The Final Chapter, Universal's A Dog's Purpose and The Weinstein Company's Gold to close out the month of January. We're predicting that, while it certainly may be a close race this weekend, Resident Evil: The Final Chapter will take down Split with a projected $21.7 million, just barely beating Split with $20.6 million.

Box Office Mojo reports that Resident Evil 6 will open in roughly 3,000 theaters, followed by A Dog's Purpose in 2,900 theaters and Gold in 2,200 theaters. As of now, Gold is sporting a middling 43% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, although Resident Evil: The Final Chapter and A Dog's Purpose

Second Trailer for 'Power Rangers' Movie Brings Together a New Team

"It's Morphin' time!" Lionsgate has debuted a second trailer for their new Power Rangers movie, directed by Dean Israelite (Project Almanac). This definitely looks like a lot like Chronicle with a bit of Iron Man, but instead of a billionaire engineer, we have five high school kids who end up gaining superpowers and stepping into colorful sci-fi suits. This actually looks more entertaining than I was expecting, but I'm still not sure if it's going to be any good. Here's the second official trailer

First Teaser Trailer for 'Power Rangers' About Five High School Teens

"I'm not the same..." Lionsgate has revealed the first full-length teaser trailer for the new live-action Power Rangers movie, from the director of Project Almanac. They're bringing back the classic colored superkids for an epic sci-fi movie and it looks pretty cool at first glance. The cast is lead by: Naomi Scott as The Pink Ranger, Becky G. as The Yellow Ranger, Ludi Lin as The Black Ranger, Rj Cyler as The Blue Ranger, and Dacre Montgomery as The Red Ranger. This also features Bryan Cranston as Zordon, Bill Hader as the voice of Alpha 5, Elizabeth Banks as Rita Repulsa, as well as David Denman, Sarah Grey, Emily Maddison, and Caroline Cave. This teaser ends right when it's getting good (revealing their outfits), but so far I'm admittedly intrigued. This trailer also features the song "I Walk The Line" by Halsey. Take a look. Here's the first teaser trailer (+ poster

No need to call Saul. Bryan Cranston has been cast as the rangers' mentor, Zordon, in the upcoming Power Rangers feature film. The actor and the film's official page broke the news on Twitter. Elizabeth Banks was previously cast as nemesis Rita Repulsa.

Well before he was Breaking Bad's Walter White, Cranston did some voice work on the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers TV show in the 1990s. The Blue Ranger, Billy Cranston, was named in his honor. The Power Rangers film cast also includes: David Denman, Naomi Scott, Becky G., Rj Cyler, Emily Maddison, Lisa Berry, Ludi Lin, Sarah Grey, Anjali Jay, Dacre Montgomery, Patrick Sabongui, Caroline Cave, and Kayden Magnuson.

DVD Round Up, Dec. 31, 2009: ‘Beyond a Reasonable Doubt,’ ‘Sita Sings the Blues’

  • HollywoodChicago.com
Chicago – The DVD Round-Up has traveled the globe this week to bring you a diverse slate of under-the-radar titles received in the HollywoodChicago.com offices this holiday season. With so many major releases this time of year, it’s hard to cover everything, but we wanted to make sure you knew these were out there in case you have a gift card burning a hole in your pocket.

One quick note: We don’t usually inject opinion into the DVD Round-Up. It’s a recurring column merely designed for informational purposes regarding some lower profile titles new on shelves. We’d like to make a rare exception for “Sita Sings the Blues,” a simply wonderful animated film that we only wish we had more time to spotlight but that we wanted to make sure you knew was available before the end of the year. Don’t just go rent it.
