Life Unexpected Review: "Camp Grounded"

3 November 2010 7:32 AM, PDT | TVfanatic | See recent TVfanatic news »

I really do look forward to watching Life Unexpected each week, and was surprised how much I missed it last week.

With that being said, I've come to the realization that this is just a guilty pleasure of mine.  A lot of what happens on this show is so very unrealistic.

Last night's episode, "Camp Grounded," was the perfect example of what I am talking about.

Lux and the entire gang go camping. Already this sets up a situation that's very unrealistic. The only chaperons on the trip happen to be related to Lux - oh, and of course Eric would be there, too.

I get that the writers need to involve all the characters, but wouldn't it have been more realistic if Cate or Baze (and their significant others) stayed home?

I am uncertain about how I feel about the whole relationship unfolding between Lux and Eric. A part »

1 November 2010 7:06 PM, PDT | TVGuide - Breaking News | See recent TVGuide - Breaking News news »

Life Unexpected's newest character Emma may appear to be Type A and tough, but star Emma Caulfield says she has a darker past that Baze (Kris Polaha) will bring to light. Despite their boss-employee relationship and polar-opposite personalities, the two develop a romance that she say brings up a lot about each other — good and bad. Caulfield tells TVGuide.com about why Emma is so guarded, and how she compares her to the actress' previous popular Buffy character, Anya...

Life Unexpected 2.05 “Music Faced” Advance Review

6 October 2010 3:03 PM, PDT | TVovermind.com | See recent TVovermind.com news »

Excited for next week’s Life Unexpected, which happens to be the crossover episode with One Tree Hill? I’ve got an early look at “Music Faced” for you right now.

Here’s how the story goes: Ryan (Kerr Smith) is hosting a music festival, which brings Oth‘s Haley (Bethany Joy Galeotti) and Mia (Kate Voegele) to Portland. Haley then meets Cate (Shiri Appleby), bonds with her over their similarities, and is there to lend a helping hand when the truth about Cate’s birth control gets out. Oh, and because this is a music festival, there are appearances by Sarah McLachlan, Ben Lee, and Lux theme song artist Rain Perry, too.

If you’ve forgotten that Ryan and Cate are trying to have a baby (or he is, anyway), the show opens with them in bed – and thankfully done with that by the time that Baze, Lux and »

'Life Unexpected': Krista Allen makes Baze work for it

4 October 2010 5:56 PM, PDT | Zap2It - From Inside the Box | See recent Zap2It - From Inside the Box news »

"Life Unexpected" has cast actress Krista Allen as a very wealthy socialite who pops into Season 2's ninth episode, sources reveal to Zap2it.

Now that Baze (Kristoffer Polaha) has a real job, we're looking forward to seeing him interact with people other than his buddies and bar patrons. In order to impress his persnickety new boss, Emma (Emma Caulfield), he'll have to win over Allen's character at a fancy party.

With Baze's charm and good looks, we've got no doubt that he'll land her account for his firm -- though Allen is known for dating the incomparable George Clooney. Of course, given Baze's family's penchant for getting themselves into trouble, it won't be an easy sell.

Allen is known for her time as Billie Reed on "Days of Our Lives," as Jenna on "Baywatch," and as Bridget on "What About Brian." We also loved her gig as The Oracle on "Charmed. »

'Life Unexpected's' Kristoffer Polaha: Are Baze and Cate soulmates?

27 September 2010 8:08 PM, PDT | Zap2It - From Inside the Box | See recent Zap2It - From Inside the Box news »

Many "Life Unexpected" fans were surprised last season when Cate (Shiri Appleby) followed through on her marriage to Ryan (Kerr Smith) despite her obvious feelings for her daughter's father, Baze (Kristoffer Polaha).

Despite getting his heart broken, Baze is doing his best to pick up the pieces. "Baze is going to 100 percent respect the fact that Cate is married," Polaha tells Zap2it. "He's like, 'I have to move on.'"

He's moving on in a very Baze sort of way. He's already slept with Ryan's sister, Paige, and now he's got to tango with his hot new boss, Emma ("Buffy the Vampire Slayer's" Emma Caulfield). Is there a love triangle in the works there?

"If I told you that I'd be giving away some very interesting plots," Polaha teases. "I think that you're gonna see Emma and Baze engaged in like a hate/hate relationship at first. Baze »

Liz Tigelaar Interview: What's Next on Life Unexpected?

16 September 2010 1:13 PM, PDT | TVfanatic | See recent TVfanatic news »

Life Unexpected got off to a solid start on Tuesday night, premiering its second season with the episode "Ocean Uncharted."

What can fans expect over the next few weeks and months? That's a question for creator Liz Tigelaar, who spoke to Daemon's TV this week:

On the ramifications of Baze's bar burning down: It definitely affects him because it sets him off having to go in a new direction and kind of opening up a different world for him. He ends up going to interview at his dad’s wealth management firm and ends up interviewing with a character named Emma played by Emma Caulfield and that starts him on what will be a new journey. The two of them definitely have a love/hate relationship although it’s more just hate/hate at the beginning. As actors they have a lot of chemistry together and so they’re really fun to watch. »

Katie Cassidy, Steven R. McQueen: Zap2it's underrated stars who deserve their own shows

24 August 2010 10:03 PM, PDT | Zap2It - From Inside the Box | See recent Zap2It - From Inside the Box news »

Every show has its unsung heroes. You know the ones: tertiary characters or recurring stars who steal every scene they're in but get decidedly less attention than those higher up on the call sheet.

This fall, actors like Melissa McCarthy, Julie Benz, and Will Arnett are getting the mainstream recognition they deserve. The Zap2it staff rounded up our favorite supporting cast members who deserve to have their faces on those bus stop posters and billboards next year.

Carina Adly MacKenzie:

I'll admit it... I hated Arielle Kebbel on "Gilmore Girls." She was so boring, and as Dean's oh-so-needy eighteen-year-old wife, she just got in the way of... well, everything. Dean and Rory 4-eva! Ahem. Since spectacularly dumping Dean while all of Stars Hollow watched from Luke's Diner, Kebbel has gone from meek and mousy to totally magnetic.

She's recently been making the vampire rounds, with a memorable role on »

Crazy Sexy Geeks: New Episodes and More to Come

12 August 2010 10:02 AM, PDT | Comicmix.com | See recent Comicmix news »

Due to Comic-Con and, frankly, the economy, "Crazy Sexy Geeks: The Series" has been on hiatus for a short while. But thanks to a few fan donations, the show is coming back with new episodes.

These episodes will cover such topics as "gays in mainstream comics", more on "women superheroes", a look at "what you should be reading" featuring author Victoria Laurie and comic writer Jimmy Palmiotti, and chats with celebrities such as Paul Wesley of "The Vampire Diaries" and Emma Caulfield of the recent movie Timer and "Buffy the Vampire Slayer."

Tim Gunn has also promised to come back for further fashion discussions on superheroes, due to the high positive response of his last visit to the show that got rave reviews from many, including NPR. If you didn't catch that special two-part discussion on the fashion of Superman, Robin, the Hulk, Power Girl, Black Canary, Catwoman and others, »

'Buffy' alum Emma Caulfield gets 'Life Unexpected'

23 July 2010 11:31 AM, PDT | Zap2It - From Inside the Box | See recent Zap2It - From Inside the Box news »

Emma Caulfield is coming back to the small screen on "Life Unexpected," the CW confirms to Zap2it. She will be playing a recurring character named Emma who works at Baze's father's (Robin Thomas) investment firm.

Fans of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" will remember Caulfield from her five seasons as Anya, the outspoken Vengeance Demon and Xander's girlfriend/ditched bride-to-be. She died a hero's death in the series finale, saving dopey Andrew (Tom Lenk) and sacrificing herself.

Since Caulfield will be working for Mr. Bazile, one would think we'd be seeing much more of him as well. Hopefully that means the show will explore more of the Baze-father relationship, which was one of the main sources of tension in the first season. We also wonder if Caulfield would possibly be a romantic interest for Baze (Kristoffer Polaha)? The cliffhanger saw him interrupt Cate and Ryan's wedding but to what end? »
