Downton Abbey: Sixth and Final Season Preview

The sixth and final season of Downton Abbey is well underway in UK, having premiered on ITV, September 20, 2015. In the Us we have to wait until Sunday, January 3rd, 2016 for it to air as part of the PBS Masterpiece! anthology series. Per Deadline, the UK season six premiere ratings were down, but Downton Abbey still won its premiere night. Since the season has been bought, paid for, and is already in the can, fans don't have to concern ourselves with ratings. Downton Abbey, while not "cancelled" is ending.

Misery for all: Downton Abbey Season 5, Episode 4 recap

With the exception of the final scene, which offers a ray of hope, this is one depressing episode of Downton Abbey. Everyone is mired in individual misery, and some plot points look as if the characters will have to suffer quite a bit more.
