- In 1980, Caso broke the fifth and sixth cervical vertebrae in his neck during a tumble. He was paralyzed for 90 minutes. Doctors surgically fused his spine together, using hip bone. Got a halo brace for neck support. He continued practicing even with the brace and ten months later, he was competing again.
