Joelle Carter was raised throughout the United States. Her father was in the army and the family moved often. She attended high school in Albany, Georgia. She enrolled at Augusta College on a full athletic scholarship for swimming and cross-country. She began her modeling career shortly thereafter and moved to New York after her sophomore year to pursue modeling full-time, including stints with Elite and Wilhelmina. She currently lives and works in New York.

An accomplished actress, Joelle Carter, has been acting in film, television and theatre for over a decade. She can be seen in the soon to be released Cold Storage, cult favorite High Fidelity, American Pie 2 and indie favorites Swimming, Lisa Picard is Famous, When Will I Be Loved, Suits and Just One Time. Short films include Wired and Room 314 (Nick and Stacey). In addition, Joelle has starred in many television projects including a season regular of NBC's show Inconceivable, a television movie Tempting Adam and guest starring spots for CSI Miami, Justice, Third Watch, The Job and Law and Order. Joelle is a co-producer and star of the short Girl and a Gun, which recently won Best Original Short at the 2008 Washougal International Film Festival. She recently attended the Cannes Film Festival with the film, Jumping In in which she starred and produced was a selection.
