Screen Actors Guild Awards – Les Misérables, Argo & Playbook lead the Nominations

12 December 2012 9:00 AM, PST | HeyUGuys.co.uk | See recent HeyUGuys news »

The Screen Actors Guild Awards nominations have been announced, continuing the awards season we’re currently in the midst of, and further recognising a handful of films that are already buzzing ahead of the Oscars.

Les Misérables, Lincoln, Argo, and Silver Linings Playbook all have prominent positions in the SAG announcement, along with an interesting appearance from The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel in the ensemble category, Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture.

The awards celebrate not just the year’s best performances on the big screen, but also those on television, and some of the biggest and best TV shows have deservedly earned their places in the nominations below.

Modern Family, 30 Rock, Parks and Recreation, and The Office continue to dominate the comedy categories. And joining them in the drama nominations are naturally Breaking Bad, Homeland, Mad Men, Downton Abbey, Boardwalk Empire, and The Newsroom.

Chris Tucker: 'I got my first big laugh and kept going'

16 November 2012 2:25 AM, PST | The Guardian - Film News | See recent The Guardian - Film News news »

Silver Linings Playbook star Chris Tucker, once the world's highest paid actor, talks about what drew him to acting and why he's back after a five-year break

Chris Tucker is an actor who will for ever be associated with one, salient fact. Specifically: that he was, for a brief moment, the highest paid actor in the world. This was for Rush Hour 3, the third, but possibly not final instalment in the big-grossing action franchise of the 90s for which he was paid $25m (£15.75m). The film proved him to be, arguably, the greatest physical comedian of his generation and, inarguably, its best remunerated.

After watching his hyper-animated, bug-eyed, wisecracking, body-popping turns as Lapd Detective James Carter – foil to Jackie Chan's self-contained police inspector Lee – it is hard to believe this subdued, polite guy in black shirt and suit, speaking softly at a hotel suite conference table, is the same person. »

Chris Tucker, 'Silver Linings Playbook' Star, On His Return, 'Friday' And 'California Love'

14 November 2012 11:48 AM, PST | Moviefone | See recent Moviefone news »

This weekend, Chris Tucker has a new movie coming out. And for the first time since 1997, it doesn't have the words "rush" or "hour" in the title. It's also his first movie in five years. Not that Tucker is complaining. As the actor explained, he was just being patient, searching for roles that didn't have him playing the same fast-talking characters audiences know him for (see: Smokey in "Friday" and Ruby Rhod in "The Fifth Element"). Lo and behold, Tucker seems to have finally found a different part in "The Silver Linings Playbook." Here, he plays Danny, a patient at a mental institution who becomes a friend and mentor to Pat (Bradley Cooper), a man attempting to get his life back on track after he catches his wife having an affair. Although the role is small, Tucker appears to have gotten what he was looking for in both Danny and »

Downton Abbey: series three, episode eight

4 November 2012 2:30 PM, PST | The Guardian - TV News | See recent The Guardian - TV News news »

It was all very literary – and check out those Brideshead costumes – but, although Bates fans were well catered for, couldn't they have given us a bit more action?

Is that it? Seriously? A few cups of tea and some scones at a cricket match and that's what you're going to leave us with? This was a giant serving of anti-climax, dolloped out with bouillon spoons.

There was no obvious cliff-hanger. Thomas was going and then he wasn't and then he was and then he wasn't. There was the bizarre introduction of a new character who went nowhere (Rose). And we had only a tantalising sniff of Her Ladyship's soap. Too fleeting! Seasoned, jaded viewers who have stuck with this sequinned turkey of a series through burnt kidney souffles, the death throes of eclampsia and tingle-free impotence deserved more, far more, than Molesley and his sticky wicket.

Homeland Cleans Up at the 2012 Emmy Awards

24 September 2012 7:15 AM, PDT | FilmJunk | See recent FilmJunk news »

Well if you hadn't really heard of Homeland prior to this weekend, you probably have by now. The Showtime series pulled off a major upset at the 64th Annual Emmy Awards last night, winning a large chunk of the major awards in the Drama category over favourites like Mad Men, Breaking Bad, Boardwalk Empire and Game of Thrones. Claire Danes and Damian Lewis both took home awards for Lead Actress and Actor in a Drama Series, while the show also broke Mad Men's four-year win streak for Outstanding Drama Series. Elsewhere, Aaron Paul won his second Emmy for his supporting performance as Jesse Pinkman on Breaking Bad, while Julia Louis-Dreyfus won Best Lead Actress in a Comedy for Veep. Modern Family still took the Outstanding Comedy Series, however, while the HBO movie Game Change took the Outstanding Mini-Series or TV Movie. Kevin Costner did manage to pick up some »

The 'Revolution' of Giancarlo Esposito

On Sunday, Giancarlo Esposito will face off against his Breaking Bad brother, Aaron Paul, two Downton dudes (Brendan Coyle, Jim Carter) a dearly departed Mad man (Jared Harris) and last year's winner, Peter Dinklage, in the Best Supporting Actor in a Drama category at the 2012 Primetime Emmy Awards. And odds are on the first-time nominee to also become a first-time winner for his career-making performance as Gus Fring.

But Esposito has more than one reason to celebrate this week as his new series, Revolution, premiered to NBC's best premiere ratings in five years on Monday! ETonline sat down with the 54-year-old actor to find out what winning an Emmy would mean to him, why Gus Fring almost never existed and what you can expect next from Revolution!

ETonline: When you first signed on to Breaking Bad, did you have any idea Gus Fring would become such a major player?

'Rush Hour 4' moving ahead with Jackie Chan, Chris Tucker

31 July 2012 8:24 AM, PDT | Digital Spy | See recent Digital Spy - Movie News news »

Rush Hour 4 is reportedly in the works with Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker likely to reprise their roles as mismatched cops Lee and James Carter. Producer Arthur Sarkissian told Crave that he is hoping to bring in a pair of new characters to reinvigorate the franchise. "I am working on Rush Hour 4 right now with Chris Tucker and Jackie Chan," he said. "I'm trying to do it closer to how I did Rush Hour 1, more down to earth, more gritty, introduce two new characters and make it real the way the first one was. "I personally was not happy with the third one. I thought 1 and 2 were very good. I think 3 got out of hand a little bit. It's not a matter of just bringing them back to do another segment of that or a sequel to it by putting them in another city and having them bicker. I don't want that. »

Radio specialist Eardrum launches digital offering

19 July 2012 7:16 PM, PDT | Encore Magazine | See recent Encore Magazine news »

Radio specialist agency Eardrum has broadened its offering to include digital services.

The agency has picked up four clients with integrated campaigns since January offering digital design, which can also be carried into print, as well as social and Seo services.

Ralph van Dijk, Eardrum’s founding creative director told Mumbrella:

“From our perspective it’s campaign optimisation. In the past we’ve been a component of the campaign but more and more our clients have been focusing on radio with online. It was been frustrating to have our ads drive a consumer to a website that was substandard.”

Van Dijk said that radio is maintained as the lead medium with everything else integrated.

The agency’s founding client was the Commonwealth government department, Deewr, the department of education, employment and workplace relations, with a campaign for youth allowance.

Since then Eardrum has done work for another commonwealth government body, »

What/Who I Wish Had Been Nominated for 2012 Emmys

19 July 2012 11:55 AM, PDT | Scott Feinberg | See recent Scott Feinberg news »

By Rachel Bennett

It’s that time of year again! This morning, the nominees for the 64th Primetime Emmy Awards were announced. You can’t argue with some of the nominees (Mad Men, anyone?), but others — why not? Here is a category-by-category look at who made the cut, along with one show or person that I wish had been included instead of one of them! (You can also read Scott’s take here.)

Outstanding Supporting Actress In A Comedy Series

This year’s nominees: Mayim Bialik (The Big Bang Theory), Kathryn Josten (Desperate Housewives), Julie Bowen (Modern Family), Sofia Vergara (Modern Family), Merritt Wever (Nurse Jackie), Kristen Wiig (Saturday Night Live)

My dream nominee: Eden Sher (The Middle)

Sher’s performance is one of the best on TV right now that virtually nobody is talking about. As Sue, she gives a different take on being a teenage girl than we’re accustomed to seeing. »

Announcing the 2012 Primetime Emmy Nominees!

19 July 2012 10:13 AM, PDT | BuzzSugar | See recent BuzzSugar news »

Jimmy Kimmel and Scandal's Kerry Washington stepped up to the podium this morning to announce the nominees for the 64th Primetime Emmys (Nick Offerman was scheduled to announce with Washington, but had to cancel due to travel issues, and luckily, Kimmel was on hand, still in his pajamas). It's not a surprise that a lot of Emmy favorites are back again, with Breaking Bad, Mad Men, and Modern Family scooping up tons of nods, but there's a lot of fresh blood in here too. I was pleasantly surprised to see a few names make it off our Emmy wishlist, like American Horror Story, Max Greenfield, and Julia Louis-Dreyfus. As for new series, Lena Dunham's Girls racked up noms for comedy series, directing, writing, and acting, and Downton Abbey is all over the drama categories. Now that the nominees are out, the official speculation can begin! The 64th Emmy »
