The Tremors 3: Back to Perfection episode of Wtf Happened to This Horror Movie? was Written by Cody Hamman, Narrated by Adam Walton, Edited by Jaime Vasquez, Produced by Andrew Hatfield and John Fallon, and Executive Produced by Berge Garabedian.
Subterranean creatures become two-legged, gliding Ass Blasters in the second sequel to Tremors. Kevin Bacon isn’t there to fight them. Neither is Fred Ward. But Michael Gross is still around and ready to save the day… in a movie that didn’t have quite enough money or time to bring its monster action to the screen. Today we’re talking about Tremors 3: Back to Perfection (watch it Here). And we’re going to find out What the F*ck Happened to This Horror Movie!
Directed by Ron Underwood from a script he crafted with Brent Maddock and S.S. Wilson, the 1990 film Tremors is one of the greatest creature features ever made.

When taken all together, the Tremors movies in order are a veritable saga of classic science fiction action with a heaping dose of humor on the side. Debuting in 1990 with the release of the eponymous first film, the Tremors series follows people in various scenarios as they contend with the vicious and deadly Graboids, a subterranean monster that consumes anything that moves. With their tongue-in-cheek tone and brilliant action horror set-pieces, the Tremors movies manage to elevate themselves above the usual B-movie fare and have amassed a massive fanbase in the three-plus decades since their debut.
Amazingly, 1990's Tremors didn't perform well at the box office (via Box Office Mojo) but it was saved due to home video sales and went on to set the tone for 1990s monster movies. Though every Tremors sequel has been released straight-to-video or VOD, the exciting and over-the-top spirit of the original has continued...

When Universal Pictures released the classic creature feature Tremors (watch it Here) back in 1990, they decided to market it with poster art that brings to mind the iconic poster for Universal’s 1975 release Jaws. But before they made that choice, they had hired famed artist Drew Struzan – whose work includes the posters for Indiana Jones, Back to the Future, and Star Wars films, among many others – come up with a couple poster ideas. Yesterday, Struzan took to social media to share a look at a couple of his unused Tremors poster concepts… and you can check them out in this embed:

The official poster for the original Tremors (1990) ended up paying homage to the iconic poster art for Jaws, but as always, several different concepts were originally tossed about.
Taking to his must-follow Twitter account this week, legendary poster artist Drew Struzan shares two alternate Tremors poster concepts he whipped up back in the day!
The two concepts were ultimately unused, but you can check them out below. Unlike the film’s official poster, there’s not a Graboid in sight on Struzan’s artwork, which instead focuses on the film’s human characters and only teases the horror beneath the surface.
Drew Struzan is currently retired but his poster artwork was integral to the success of countless notable films including Indiana Jones, Back to the Future, The Thing and The Goonies.
You can learn more about Struzan over on his official website.

A new episode of the Revisited video series has just arrived online, and in this one we’re looking back at one of my personal all-time favorite movies, the 1990 creature feature Tremors (watch it Here)! To find out what we had to say about Tremors, check out the video embedded above.
Directed by Ron Underwood from a screenplay by Brent Maddock and S. S. Wilson (who also share story credit with Underwood), Tremors has the following synopsis: Handymen Val McKee and Earl Bassett are tired of their dull lives in the small desert town of Perfection, Nevada. But just as the two try to skip town, they happen upon a series of mysterious deaths and a concerned seismologist studying unnatural readings below the ground. With the help of an eccentric couple, the group fights for survival against giant, worm-like monsters hungry for human flesh.

Kevin Bacon offers a positive response to calls for Tremors 8. Bacon starred in the 1990 original Tremors alongside Fred Ward, Finn Carter, Reba McEntire, and Michael Gross. The film was a horror comedy that saw the residents of a small, secluded Nevada town combating giant underground worms that begin killing them off. While the series spawned seven sequels, the most recent of which was released in 2020, Bacon never returned to the Tremors franchise following the first film, however, the actor seems keen on revisiting the beloved monster movie series.
After seeing the newest Shazam! Fury of the Gods trailer, an image sparked one fan's nostalgia for the Tremors franchise, as the moment evoked the Graboids bursting up through the ground. Twitter user @MoranMarshall then Tweeted at Bacon, asking him to make another Tremors sequel happen, to which he responded.

After a month of divergent picks ranging from John Carpenter’s made-for-tv movie Someone’s Watching Me! to Clive Barker’s sprawling Nightbreed to Michele Soavi’s Italian slasher Stage Fright to Robert Eggers’ The Lighthouse, Trace and I are ready to wrap up August with an American classic.
It’s time for Tremors, y’all!
Although the film was written and directed by SS. Wilson and Brent Maddock and directed by Ron Underwood, its behind the scenes production was guided by three powerful women, who managed to bring the creature feature together.
The movie is about two men, Kevin Bacon‘s Val and Fred Ward‘s Earl (who may be more than friends) who discover a population of massive creatures burrowing under the surface of their small desert town. It would be nice to say that Finn Carter had a very successful and long career that she’s still cultivating, but she exited show business back in 2005 and while she did manage to take on several roles between TV and the movies, there are few that a lot of people might recall unless they were actively following her career. Finn isn’t the only person that was taken in by the business and eventually shuffled about, and she did manage to present herself in a way that allowed her to create a few memorable roles that would keep her in

More than three decades later, Tremors stars Kevin Bacon and Michael Gross reunited for a new commercial promoting the Verizon phone service Visible. After upgrading the "6 Degrees of Kevin Bacon" to "12 Degrees," Bacon invites nearly everyone he knows to join him on Visible, and that includes his old pal from Tremors. The ad debuted during the Grammy Awards and can now be watched online. You can see it for yourself below.
"When you bring a friend every month, you get every month for five dollars, so I'm bringing everyone within 12 degrees of me," Bacon says in the ad. "Which includes my old co-star, Michael Gross, from that cult 90s film about sandworms."
"Trevors!" Gross then shouts, referring to two of Bacon's stunt doubles who both are named Trevor.
While both actors are known for starring in Tremors, this is the first time the pair have appeared on screen together since the original installment.

This 1990 monster romp still feels bright, smart & fresh, a mix of light comedy and old-fashioned scares. The entire show is one long battle against smelly burrowing beasts called ‘Graboids.’ Desert handymen Kevin Bacon and Fred Ward must work hard to avoid taking their place in the Graboid Food Chain. Ambitious it ain’t, but it delivers what monster fans want — gross-out thrills, excellent effects and solid laughs. Arrow’s 4K Ultra HD disc is as sharp as a tack, and a second Blu-ray disc contains an unprecedented volume of featurettes, interviews and production documentation.

Back in November, Kevin Bacon revealed that he is set to star in and executive produce a new TV series based on his 1990 cult classic Tremors. We haven't heard much about the series since then, but in a new interview, Kevin Bacon confirmed that the show is moving forward at Amazon. The actor currently stars on the new Amazon Studios pilot I Love Dick.
The last we heard about this project was in May, when Kevin Bacon confirmed it would be a 10-episode miniseries. The series will be produced by Jason Blum's Blumhouse and Universal Cable Productions, and it had previously been rumored that the show would find a home at Syfy. However, during a new interview with Collider, Kevin Bacon confirmed the project is happening at Amazon, while teasing that the story won't necessarily follow the straight-to-video sequels.
"We're at Amazon. We're still waiting for a draft, but I'm 100% on board with that.

Back in November, news broke that a new TV series is being developed based on the 1990 cult classic Tremors, with Kevin Bacon in the lead. He starred in the original as monster hunter Valentine McKee, and is coming back to both star in and executive produce the continuation of this popular horror franchise. Unfortunately, we haven't heard anything further about this TV series since then. Thankfully, Kevin Bacon revealed today that the project is still very much in development. It is being planned as a 10-episode mini-series. Unfortunately, we don't know much else at this point.
Kevin Bacon himself shared the news today during a video Q&A session on his Twitter page, where he was asked by a fan if he'd actually consider making another Tremors movie. Sadly, the actor doesn't shed any light on the story, or when the series may air, but it seems the miniseries is still in active development.

Valentine "Val" McKee is looking to return to Perfection, as it's been revealed that a Tremors TV series is in the works with Kevin Bacon attached to executive produce and reprise his role as Valentine McKee from the 1990 film that kicked off the beloved franchise.
EW reports the news of the Tremors TV series, stating that a small screen reboot based on Ron Underwood's original film is being developed by Universal Cable Productions and Jason Blum's Blumhouse Productions. Bacon is set to executive produce and once again star as handyman turned Graboid fighter Val McKee.
The TV series will take place in Perfection, Nevada, and Andrew Miller (Backstrom, The Secret Circle, Boys and Girls) has been lined up to pen the franchise's new entry.
Although Tremors spawned four sequels and a 2003 Sci-Fi Channel TV series, Bacon hasn't stepped into Val's boots since he acted in the first film over 25 years ago.

"Tremors" fans: Kevin Bacon is back in the saddle for one of his most iconic roles. 25 years after the release of the cult horror/adventure classic, the "Following" star is set to reprise the role of Valentine "Val" McKee in a TV reboot of the film series, which is currently being shopped by the TV arm of low-budget horror king Blumhouse Pictures. Bacon, who will also serve as an executive-producer, opted out of all four sequels to the original film, all of which went direct to video. A previous TV series based on the films, "Tremors: The Series" featuring original star Michael Gross and future "Breaking Bad" thesp Dean Norris, lasted for a single season on Syfy in 2003. According to EW, which had the exclusive on the news, Bacon has previously expressed interest in returning to the franchise, telling IGN earlier this year: “I’d love to do something else...

Last month, Universal Studios Home Entertainment released the first trailer for Tremors 5: Bloodlines, which debuts on October 6. This sequel is the latest installment in a long-running franchise that started with the 1990 cult classic Tremors, starring Kevin Bacon, but the first sequel since 2004's Tremors 4: The Legend Begins. Later this year comes "Tremors 5: Bloodlines," the latest direct to video schlock sequel in the creature feature franchise that began with 1990's still impressive and solid "Tremors". Said film quickly led to several terrible Dtv follow-ups, but the original quickly became and remains a cult classic.
Out doing promotion for the new indie film "Cop Car," actor Kevin Bacon revealed he actually wants to reboot, or rather refresh, the franchise. Starring in the original film alongside Fred Ward, Bacon played good 'ol boy Valentine McKee and says it's "one of the few characters I've played that I'd be interested in seeing where he is 25 years later". He tells The Huffington Post:

Let’s just say it proved useful for our readers and even for our staff when they were looking to find something to watch, wanted to program their DVR’s or didn’t want to miss out on some great “live” Horror. Isn’t there something about having a movie fed to you on TV as opposed to watching it on Blu-ray or DVD or streaming? We may not like commercials, but the randomness that you can associate with a TV program itinerary is novel. It removes a little bit of control from the audience who is all to concerned with being in control these days (just look at the reasons behind publishing a piece like this).

Desperate Housewives‘ Kathryn Joosten died of lung cancer earlier today in Westlake Village, a community about 40 miles northwest of downtown Los Angeles. Joosten, a two-time Emmy winner for her nosy neighbor in the popular television series, was 72. A former Disney World street performer, Joosten’s was best known for her television work. In addition to playing opposite Teri Hatcher, Felicity Huffman, Marcia Strong, and Eva Longoria in Desperate Housewives, Joosten had recurring roles in Ally McBeal, Dharma & Greg, and The West Wing, and guested in numerous TV shows. Kathryn Joosten could also be spotted in about twenty movies, almost invariably in small supporting roles or bit parts. She was Will Ferrell’s mother in the box-office smash Wedding Crashers; Finn Carter’s mother in the apparently direct-to-video Halfway Decent; and Aunt Jackie in Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel. Joosten’s last film role was in André Gordon’s 2011 (as...

Kitschy 1990 horror movie/Kevin Bacon vehicle Tremors feels incredibly dated twenty years on. Watching it for the first time in well over a decade, courtesy of its release on Blu-ray, the Ron Underwood directed creature feature doesn’t quite live up to my childhood memories. The giant worm creatures no longer seem scary enough to have once made me genuinely afraid to walk across my bedroom floor (let alone on sand). And yet the film also feels strangely relevant, perhaps disturbingly so, in the time of the Tea Party movement and Sarah Palin.
Tremors is tongue in cheek in tone and features a group of self-consciously silly characterisations: none more memorable than Michael Gross’ Burt Gummer, a gun-toting survivalist who went to become a key part of the franchise in its three straight-to-video sequels and ill-fated 2003 TV series. In Burt Gummer we have a valiant champion of the second amendment...

Wow! This is one of the lightest weeks in recent memory for horror title releases on DVD and Blu-ray. But that's fine because after the rush in October, we are still trying to catch up on watching all of those flicks.
This week we have the very controversial and disturbing Antichrist from Lars von Trier, which spawned a Nsfw Motion Picture Purgatory from Rick Trembles. Stephen King's new novel and Call of Duty's new edition, Black Ops (with Zombie mode), also drop, and Steve Austin joins the fray along with Tremors' inevitable Blu-ray release.

The town of Perfection, Nevada, is pretty much just that. Not a lot happens, only a dozen or so locals, the ideal life…as long as you don’t mind the graboids. Seems they like the ground under the town and the people above that populate it.
Let’s take a look at a great popcorn movie: Tremors.
Valentine and Earl (Kevin Bacon and Fred Ward) are tired of making small money as handymen in Perfection. Both dream of bigger money and decide to leave town. On the way back, they encounter Seismology major Rhonda (Finn Carter) who tells them about some of the strange readings she’s been getting. After packing, they head out, only to find the dehydrated body of town drunk Edgar sitting atop a power line. As they return to town with the body they discover Farmer Fred’s ranch decimated and a...

The folks over at Cinema Blend and Shock Till You Drop have confirmed that another Tremors flick is being developed. The fourth sequel to the Kevin Bacon classic will head straight to DVD. Along with Bacon, the original Tremors starred Fred Ward, Finn Carter, Michael Gross and Reba McEntire. It centered on natives of a small isolated town who must defend themselves against strange underground creatures, know as Graboids, which are killing them one by one. Cinema Blend says the action will shift locations to Australia and be called Tremors: The Thunder from Down Under. This may be the fifth Tremors flick, which will probably be just as bad as the other sequels, but that title is pretty kick ass. Tremors is a great flick and had the makings of a great franchise, but for whatever reason all of its sequels - Tremors II: Aftershocks, Tremors 3: Back to Perfection,...
