The first full-length trailer for the second season of HBO’s The Leftovers has debuted online, ahead of the show’s return on October 4, 2015. Watch it down below…
As the trailer shows, season 2 will be different in a lot of ways from the first season. On top of the show’s setting changing from Mapleton, New York to Jarden, Texas, many new actors are being added to the cast, while others from season 1 are not returning.
The Leftovers is created by Damon Lindeloff and Tom Perrotta, the latter of the two having penned the book from which the show is adapted. Regular cast members Justin Theroux, Amy Brenneman, Margaret Qualley, Chris Zylka, Carrie Coon, Liv Tyler and Christopher Eccleston will be joined by newcomers Kevin Carroll (Margaret), Regina King (Enemy of the State), Jovan Adepo (Blood Relatives) and Darius McCrary (Family Matters).

Back in April, HBO announced a new cast for Season 2 of The Leftovers, with the setting shifting from Mapleton, New York to a small town Texas known as Miracle. Just one month after the first trailer debuted, which showed rapture survivors from allover the country flocking to this small town, the cable network has released a second trailer that gives us more insight into this miraculous town, while introducing us to a few of its residents, primarily, the Parker family, played by Kevin Carroll, Regina King, Jovan Adepo and Darius McCrary
More than three years ago, 2% of the world's population inexplicably vanished. 140 million people, gone in an instant. No country, no state, no city was spared, except for one small town in Eastern Texas. Population: 9261. Departures: Zero. Season 1 stars Carrie Coon, Justin Theroux, Amy Brenneman, Chris Zylka, Margaret Qualley and Christopher Eccleston are returning for The Leftovers Season 2, along with new cast members Kevin Carroll, »
A new season means a new location and new characters for HBO’s “The Leftovers.”
In the first full-length trailer for its sophomore season, fans see the Garveys leaving their New York town for a place to make a “fresh start.”
That place is Miracle National Park in Jarden, Texas — where no departures occurred. The name shouldn’t be an indication of less mystery in this dark drama series.
“There are no miracles in Miracle,” according to an unknown voice at the end of the trailer.
During a TCA panel last week, Lindelof teased how the upcoming episodes will relate to the show’s first breakout season.
“I think that this season is really interested in exploring that idea of, »

Season 2 of HBO's "The Leftovers" adds Regina King, Kevin Carroll, Jasmin Savoy Brown and Jovan Adepo to its cast. The new season will tell the tale of two families this time: The Garveys will be joined by a new clan: the Murphys, a family of four who seems to have been spared from the event that shook the rest of the world. For the initiated, the series follows a global cataclysm called "The Sudden Departure," when 140 million people disappeared without a trace. Three years later, residents of Mapleton, N.Y. try to maintain equilibrium when the notion of "normal" no longer applies. Intense grief has divided families and turned faith to cynicism, paranoia and madness, leading some of the traumatized to join the Guilty Remnant, which is a cultlike group. Kevin Garvey (Justin Theroux), a beleaguered police chief, must keep peace between townspeople and the cult, a task made tougher with concern about his kids. »

Where do you go if you're looking for miracles? A town named Miracle, of course.
Entertainment Weekly has the first full trailer for season 2 of HBO's "The Leftovers," and at first, it seems that things are looking up for Kevin Garvey (Justin Theroux), Nora Durst (Carrie Coon), and their family. They decide to leave Mapleton for Miracle, Texas - which experienced zero Sudden Departures.
"A fresh start," Kevin answers.
Watch the trailer.
But the fresh start begins to sour when the daughter of John and wife Erika (Regina King) goes missing. Was there foul play? Did she run away? Or could this be another departure?
Judging from the trailer, season 2 seems to have a different tone than the often-depressing first season. There is still conflict and tension, but also moments of light and even some smiles!
As we learned from TCA last week, »

In making the announcement, the cabler also released an extremely detailed (read: spoilery) Season 2 synopsis. Scroll down and read at your own risk.
After last season’s elaborate Memorial Day initiative by the Guilty Remnant plunged Mapleton into chaos, season two of The Leftovers finds many searching for a fresh start. Kevin Garvey (Justin Theroux) has retired from his post as chief of police of Mapleton and is moving his new family to Texas. »
"The Leftovers" -- arguably HBO's most depressing but still addictive show -- introduced us to The Sudden Departure, when 2 percent of the world's population (aka 140 million people) just disappeared at once for unknown reasons. The first season was led by Justin Theroux in fictional Mapleton, New York, and HBO just shared the first tease for Season 2, which is taking us to the small town of Jarden, Texas.
The 55-second tease shows us a line of cars in bumper-to-bumper traffic under blazing desert skies, leading up to a sign for Jarden, Texas. Why is this place special? Well, as the sign notes, they had no Departures. As HBO noted with the video, "No country, no state, no city was spared, except for one small town in eastern Texas. Population: 9261. Departures: Zero."

According to TVLine, most of Season 1's cast members won't be back for Season 2, since the location moved to Texas, »
