Soda picks up 'Never Steady, Never Still'

Canadian feature drama from Kathleen Hepburn stars Shirley Henderson and Théodore Pellerin.

London-based distributor Soda Pictures has picked up Kathleen Hepburn’s debut feature Never Steady, Never Still for release in Canada and the UK.

Starring Shirley Henderson (Trainspotting) and Théodore Pellerin (Les Demons), the film follows a woman struggling with advanced Parkinson’s disease while her son attempts to find his emotional and sexual identity.

Also amongst the cast are Mary Galloway (Fire Song), Nicholas Campbell (Naked Lunch) and Lorne Cardinal (Insomnia).

Written and directed by Hepburn – whose concept short of the same name played at Tiff and won her a most promising director prize at the 2015 Vancouver International Film Festival – the project is produced by Tyler Hagan for Experimental Forest Films and James Brown for Christie Street Creative, with Carole Whiteman exec producing.

Soda Acquires ‘Never Steady, Never Still’

On the eve of the Cannes Film Festival, Soda Pictures has picked up Kathleen Hepburn’s debut feature pic “Never Steady, Never Still” for the U.K. and Canada.

Pic, which toplines Shirley Henderson (“Trainspotting,” “Filth”) and Theodore Pellerin (“Les Demons,” “Endorphine”), marks the first Canadian acquisition for Soda’s Canadian branch.

Mary Galloway (“Fire Song”), Nicholas Campbell (“Da Vinci’s Inquest”) and Lorne Cardinal (“Insomnia”) also star in the film which sees a mother struggle to take control of her life in the face of advanced Parkinson’s disease, while her son is battling his sexual and emotional identity amid the violence of Alberta’s oil field work camps.

Hepburn writes and directs the project. James Brown’s Christie Street Creative and Tyler Hagan Experimental Forest Films produce. Carol Whitman is exec producing. Film is backed by Telefilm Canada’s Canada Feature Film Fund, Bell Media’s Harold Greenburg »
