Media General filed its third emergency complaint with the Federal Communications Commission against Time Warner Cable. In the third complaint filed Friday, the TV group alleged that Time Warner breached FCC rules by failing to provide Wcbd-tv, the company's NBC affiliate in Charleston, S.C., as well as providing Time Warner customers with reasonable prior notice of intention to drop carriage of the station.
The FCC requires cable operators to give customers 30 days advance notice of such changes and to provide written notice to TV stations 30 days before dropping signals.
Recently, Media General filed two similar filings with the FCC against Time Warner for removing Wbtw, the CBS affiliate in Myrtle Beach, S.C.; and Wnct-tv, the CBS affiliate in Greenville, N.C., without prior notice.
Time Warner corporate declined comment. In earlier reports, local Time Warner officials in Myrtle Beach said the removal of Wbtw was to free up bandwidth and avoid duplicate programming.
