Adopt Films to Release African-American Horror Film November 14

Adopt Films and Bats N Belfrey Productions have announced the upcoming release of an authentic African-American horror film, "Matthew 18," coming to theaters on November 14, 2014.

"Matthew 18" is the true successor to the 70's cult classic, “Blacula.” Not a spoof, satire or send-up, it's a chilling thriller, delving into the disparity between logic/science and faith/spirituality/the supernatural. When the film's lead character is confronted with horrifying evil, which belief system can save her – the faith-based one traditional in her family, or her own scientific, scholarly one?

Co-starring popular actors Faizon Love and Luenell, who are generally known for their comedic talents, the two portray more serious characters in "Matthew 18," which moviegoers are sure to find fascinating. The film also introduces newcomers Jennifer Jayleen Martinez and “America's Next Top Model” favorite Don Benjamin. The storyline follows Michelle Jamieson (Martinez), a fiercely independent young Washington, DC woman who wants to go away to college for her pre-med education, despite her super-religious parents' objections. Eventually they do give in and allow her to leave, to attend the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis, where she moves into a large home that's been kept in her family for generations. While staying there, she encounters strange, frightening, unexplainable visions, leading her to investigate, and in so doing, she uncovers her family's deep, dark past.

The film's title, "Matthew 18," refers to a Bible passage, Matthew 18: 19-20, which states “Again I say to you that if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of My Father which is in heaven. For where two or three are gathered together in My name, there am I in the midst of them.”

This is the feature film directorial debut of filmmaker/screenwriter/producer Roy Belfrey, for Minneapolis-based Bats N Belfrey Productions.

After surviving Halloween on October 31, audiences will have a couple weeks to recuperate, and prepare for a spine-tingling cinematic journey with "Matthew 18" on November 14!

That’s My Boy | Review

The brilliant director, writer and actor Woody Allen said that. Maybe. Or maybe it was something close to that; maybe it was 90 percent of success or 80 percent of life. In truth, the exact details and source don't even matter that much as it's a valid sentiment. If Allen hadn't have said it, someone would have had to. It's a sentiment that I've heard and thought about many times in life and one that popped into my head while walking out of the theater after screening That's My Boy, the latest offering from Adam Sandler's Happy Madison production company. I was wondering what it means when the
